Driving an F1-style single-seater racing car is unlike anything else. You're strapped into the open cockpit with your legs stretched out into the nose of the car, the steering wheel in front of you and the gearstick between your legs. You're only a couple of inches off the ground and you'll know it; you can feel every bump and vibration and you'll have to fight not to oversteer, as your super-responsive car reacts to every tiny adjustment you make. This is driving at its limits, as done by the pros; just you and the car. Your experience starts with a briefing on safety, racing lines and how to handle the car out on track. Then you'll strap in to a Formula Rockingham single-seater, built to represent US Champ Cars and capable of speeds up to 145mph, for 30 minutes of driving on the Banked Oval circuit. You'll drive for 16 laps (about 25 miles), initially following a pace car. A debrief with a short question and answer session follows, and then you can collect your driving certificate.

Participant Guidelines: Minimum age is 18. Maximum weight is 18 stone. Minimum height is 5'0'', maximum is 6'4''. You must have held a full, current and valid British or international manual driving licence for at least 12 months - bring it with you on the day.
Weather: Driving may be cancelled or curtailed in extreme weather conditions (e.g. snow, ice or heavy rain) which would make driving at speed dangerous. Please call the venue if in any doubt.
Duration: Expect to be at the circuit for up to an hour and three quarters, including a 30 minute briefing, tuition, around 30 minutes driving time and a debrief. Please arrive 15 - 30 minutes in advance of your booked time to ensure a prompt start.
Numbers On Day: All in-car tuition is on a one-to-one basis. Briefings are held in groups of up to thirty people.
Spectators: Friends and family are welcome as there are excellent spectating and catering facilities on site. Get them to bring a camera. Please note that animals are not allowed at the circuit, with the exception of guide dogs.
Dress Code: Dress comfortably (e.g. jeans and sweatshirt) and wear trainers or flat-soled shoes. A helmet will be provided or you can bring your own if you have one.
Availability: Around one Saturday per month throughout the year.
Other Info: The race circuit is MSA (Motor Sports Association) approved for quality and safety. The organiser was established in 1978 and is a founder member of The Association of Racing Drivers' Schools. All instructors are ARDS qualified.
