White Water Rafting

Price: £45
Duration: 2 hrs
Ref: FREAO

  • The pure adrenaline rush of white water rafting on a mighty natural river
  • A two-hour session of breathtaking twists, turns and drops in an eight person raft
  • Expert instruction included
  • Bring your sense of adventure - and a willingness to get wet

Rediscover your sense of adventure (and what it's like to be soaked to the skin!) with this white water rafting experience in an inflatable eight person raft. You'll start by being kitted out with all the equipment (note: this is not an experience for the style-conscious!), before a full safety briefing and instruction in rafting techniques. Then an experienced guide will take you onto the water for a series of runs down the breathtaking twists, turns and drops of the mighty River Tay. You're in for a wild and wet ride as you and the rest of your crew steer the raft through some of the UK's best white water. You can get your breath back and enjoy some beautiful scenery during the odd quiet spell between white water. As a guide, this location is graded 1-3 on the UK's white water grading system, which starts at 1 (relaxed) and goes up to 6 (too rough to offer commercially).

Locations:

Aberfeldy, Perth and Kinross - Scotland

More information

Participant Guidelines: Minimum age is 10. You must be confident in the water but you don't need to be able to swim as buoyancy aids are provided for everyone. Any medical conditions must be declared before booking and the venue reserves the right to test your fitness.
Weather: Rafting will go ahead in almost all conditions. Although extremely rare, certain weather conditions may lead to postponement for safety reasons. If this happens, the venue will call you within 24 hours on the last minute contact number you provide.
Duration: Your session will last for around two hours from initial introduction to a debrief. Please arrive 30 minutes early to register and change, and allow for time afterwards to shower and change.
Numbers On Day: Your raft holds up to eight people plus a qualified instructor.
Spectators: Spectators are welcome, but please call the venue in advance to advise them of numbers. Viewing is limited due to the nature of the course and spectators might have to wait for you at the starting point.
Dress Code: Bring swimwear, a towel, old tracksuit/leggings, a sweatshirt and old trainers. You will get wet! Wetsuits and helmets are provided, plus jackets and cagouls if required. Ideally glasses should be removed, if not they must be secured with elastic.
Availability: Selected weekends from April to November. Spring and autumn are the best times to raft, as water levels are higher than in the drier summer months. Summer weekends fill quickly - book six to eight weeks in advance.
Other Info: You WILL get wet, but there are hot shower facilities at the venue. You might be expected to jump from the raft into still practice waters as part of your initial training session.
