  • About

Taking place at an award-winning vineyard set in beautiful Sussex countryside, your experience will start with a glass of wine and homemade shortbread, with an introduction to the estate and its history. Then you will be taken on a tour of the vineyard, from the original cuttings to the newest additions, and learn about the whole process from planting to harvesting. From here, go straight onto the winery to find out something about the winemaking process, from the arrival of the grapes to the bottling of finished wine. And what better way to finish a perfect day out than... you guessed it... quaff some wine! You'll taste four different varieties and a buffet meal is also included. A bottle of red is all yours to take home and savour later.

    • Learn about the whole process, from planting to harvesting
    • Enjoy four tastings and a buffet ploughman's lunch (veg option always available)
    • Take home a bottle to enjoy later between the two of you

Pleasant countryside location. Interesting and amusing tour guide. Gorgeous supper, wish we hadn't already booked somewhere for dinner because it was delicious and we could easily have eaten more. Very generous wine samples! Staff were helpful and accommodating when we had to amend our booking.

From start to finish this was an event to be remembered. RLD were first class in every aspect; even the day before our visit they sent me a text wishing us well. Bolney were just as helpful with advice before the day in their very full letter. On the day we found them to be efficient, professional and pleasant. It was an informative tour at a steady pace and we learned a good deal about wine and its production. The tastings were great fun - and the lunch tasty. I would thoroughly recommend this and wouldn't hesitate to go again.

This is the first Red Letter Day experience I have been on and it was brilliant. Our host was very knowledgeable and informative and very friendly and accommodating. I have learnt so much about the process behind getting wine from grape to the finished product, and the wines we tasted were lovely so we ended up buying lots!!

It was a very enjoyable morning full of interesting facts and anecdotes. The 'Tour Guide', a gentleman called Alan, was an excellent raconteur without whom it, possibly, maybe less interesting!

Wonderful Start To Exploring Poo Bear Country

    Teresa S, 07 May 2011

We are aiming to explore every county in the british isles and the red letter present from the family prompted sussex. The wine tasting started the holiday and as it would have been a sin and an insult not to build upon the knowledge of our guide wine tasting became the acceptable end to a hard day exploring. Alan would have been proud of the way we savoured every mouthful commenting on the flavours we encountered. Of course practise makes perfect and we have become quite good with this particular vineyards wines. Next step to try out the tips on growing and wine production on our solitary vine at home. Not a gloomy Eore in sight, but perhaps a bear with a very sore head---Perfect!!

    Very Enjoyable And Informative

I must admit I was wondering what to expect when I arrived, whether it would be me and a bunch of old people (I'm 31!) but there are a really good mix of young and old and it's good to see that wines are appreciated by a younger generation too! The tour was great, a lot of interesting and fascinating information delivered in an easy-to-comprehend style and with plenty of opportunity to ask questions. The wine-tasting itself was a real eye opener, and I learned a lot of useful info from it; it's certainly given me a much greater appreciation of what goes into getting a bottle from the vine to the table. The wines we tasted were absolutely beautiful and I bought half a dozen bottles to take home. I'm also sure I'll be ordering more in future! All in all, this tour is highly recommended if you're into wine, regardless of your level of wine knowledge!

    A Fabulous Day

Thank you for a wonderful day out - the talk was fantastic - informative and time was taken to make sure questions were answered. The tour was very interesting, the food and wine was exceptional, we were all made to feel very welcome and the two little dogs there got lots of cuddles from me too.

Duncan (Tour Guide) made the tour a great experience! With his knowledge and humour he gave a great account of the history behind wine making at Bookers Vineyard and wine making in general.
