    Calling all animal lovers who want to get up close with non-human friends. This experience gives you a rare opportunity to assist a keeper on the day and get an exclusive glimpse into what work they do for different species behind the scenes at one of the biggest and most visited zoos in the UK. The keeper's full schedule could include cleaning out different enclosures, preparing food as well as feeding and engaging in enrichment activities. Expect to have fun, learn things and be pretty tired at the end of it as you will be pitching in and helping out so be prepared for a little hard work! Your experience includes a free ticket to the zoo so once you have finished your assistant chores, you can spend time at your leisure visiting other animals.

    Availability

    Available daily (excluding Wednesdays). The zoo is closed only on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. We recommend allowing at least two weeks notice for this popular experience.

    Participant Guidelines

    Exclusively for those aged 16 years and over. Please call us in advance to confirm suitability if the intended recipient has a physical or mental disability. Regrettably this experience is not suitable for pregnant women.

    Weather

    This experience may be cancelled in cases of severe weather, you will be contacted and given as much notice as possible but please be aware of the possibliity of cancellations on the day.

    Duration

    Your encounter will last approximately four hours. As the experience includes free admission, you're welcome to spend the rest of the day at the zoo.

    Numbers On Day

    There will be a maximum of three others sharing your experience.

    Spectators

    Spectators and additional guests are welcome and can pay the entry fee on the way in on the day. Those under 15 years must be accompanied by an adult.

    Dress Code

    Wear comfortable clothes, you will be provided with wellington boots and overalls to wear over the top.
