About

Try out acting and learn all about the theatre at one of the most successful shows in the world. In advance you'll be sent a synopsis of the show on CD (read by Sir Ian McKellan) so that you can become familiar with the story, if you aren't already. The big day starts with a fantastic kids' workshop. This includes a backstage tour of the theatre and a drama workshop based on improvisational games that will bring out your inner star. The workshop ends with a re-enactment of a scene from the show, using real costumes and props, plus a chance to quiz a real member of the Les Mis cast. You will also receive a certificate to take home. A packed lunch with a sandwich, crisps, apple and juice is included (sorry but special dietary needs can't be catered for, so bring your own lunch if you prefer) for you to consume off site (as the building has to be emptied in preparation for the matinee performance). Then return in the afternoon to watch a matinee performance of the hit musical.

Availability: Saturday matinees around once a month throughout the year.

Participant Guidelines: This experience is for one child aged between 12 and 16 years. Sorry, but this isn't suitable for wheelchair users or those with limited mobility, due to confined spaces and lots of stairs in the backstage areas.

Duration: Arrive from 10.30am for the workshop which starts at 10.45am and lasts up to two and three quarter hours. Arrive for the three hour matinee from 1.45pm onward (starts at 2.30pm). You must leave the building between the workshop end and matinee start.

Numbers On Day: A maximum of 30 children take part in the workshop. Please be aware there is no supervision following the workshop when the building must be emptied, nor for the subsequent show (also be aware that the group will not sit together).

Spectators: The workshop is for kids only - no spectating adults are allowed! Please see code CMKOP for two children to attend together or CMKOT for an adult to accompany a child to the show.

Other Info: Please bring your booking confirmation letter. Your tickets for the show and the club will be posted to you. Photography or recording by any means is strictly prohibited throughout. Access to some areas might be restricted due to unscheduled activities.
