We were delighted with our Red Letter Days. The tour of Kensington Palace was very well arranged but afternoon tea at The Grosvenor House Hotel was excellent. The quality of the food and the service was first class and the wonderful pianist playing Andrew Lloyd Webber's popular musical pieces was the icing on the cake. My husband was very impressed - so much so that he insists we go back for afternoon tea there again.
An Excellent Day Full Of Nostalgia
We had a truly wonderful day, Kensington Palace was like going back in time, and being an Antique Dealer I loved everything about the place. The tea at Grosvenor House was really nice, the waiters were very polite and could not do enough for you. In all we had a fantastic day.
Mum (87) and I had a really lovely day. The walking involved around Kensington Palace was not too bad as the stairs are shallow. We were lucky with the weather. The tea at Grosvenor House was delicious.
A Great Memory For Me And My 70 Year Old Mum
Everything was so easy and uncomplicated. The idea was to spend time with my mum doing something she would really enjoy. This was a great success and we both loved it, thank you.
A Superb Christmas Gift From My Daughter
With pre-booked tickets we were escorted to the front of the queue at the Palace then enjoyed a 2 hour self-guided tour. At Grosvenor House we were greeted like old friends and taken to a window table overlooking the park. The tea was sumptuous and the food just kept on coming - a wonderful day!
History, Fashion And A Sweet Tooth!
An excellent choice for someone interested in history and fashion with a sweet tooth! Suitable as a memorable present for any age, but especially for those advancing in years. Easy to travel between Kensington Palace and Grosvenor House. Anyone living through the 1950s will enjoy the current exhibition 'The Last Debutantes 1958' as the clothes were beautiful. Some young boys were being shown how to tie a bow tie, so something for the boys as well! Tea in the Park Room was most pleasant with a wonderful pianist.
This Was A Great Day, Very Memorable And Enjoyable
This was a special gift from our son and daughter to celebrate our ruby wedding. The visit to the Palace was wonderful - the architecture was amazing. We followed this with a walk in the gardens and as the weather was so lovely we walked all the way to the Grosvenor House Hotel in Park Lane. When we arrived at this beautiful hotel, we were shown to our reserved table and enjoyed afternoon tea whilst listening to a very accomplished pianist. After 2 hours, we then sat on the terrace and enjoyed a glass of wine, before (reluctantly) leaving this wonderful hotel.
This was brought for my husband's 60th Birthday, we had a great time, the Palace was worth the two hour tour and the staff were very helpful. The day we went it would have been Princess Diana's 48th Birthday if she was still with us! The afternoon tea was lovely, so many teas to choose from and I loved the scones!! We spend an hour and half there and it was well worth it. My husband had a great Birthday treat and we would recommend it to anyone.
Really enjoyed the day out and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone interested in the history of the monarchy and lots of cakes!
A Lovely Way To Spend Our 33Rd Wedding Anniversary
Started the day with a lovely tour of Kensington Palace, very enjoyable, so much to see and listen to. Then a lovely stroll through the park onto Grosvenor House Hotel for afternoon tea. Was well looked after, the staff in the hotel were so accommodating and pleasant. They could not have done anymore to make our day perfect in every way. We are looking forward to doing it all over again next year.
Kensington Palace and Tea at Grosvenor House was the latest of the Red Letter Days presented to us by our daughters. What a marvellous idea!! Kensington Palace was lovely and to view some of Princess Diana's dresses was a dream. They are stunning. We walked across Hyde Park and were able to see Diana's water feature. Afternoon tea at Grosvenor House was served in elegant surroundings and we were lucky enough to have a table for two at the window. It seemed as though the pianist could have been given a list of our favourites to play - beautiful. All in all a perfect day. Roll on the next one - Wine Tasting has already been given to us.
The Palace gardens were really lovely and we enjoyed our tour. One staff member overheard us disscussing something and came over to explain more which was charming. Afternoon tea was relaxed and intimate with the pianist playing in the background. What can I say but would love to do it again.
Relaxing And Civilised Way To Enjoy An Afternoon
The tour of Kensington Palace was really interesting, I especially enjoyed the exhibitions of the 'Debutantes'. Tea at Grosvenor House house was delightful, plenty to eat, in fact we couldn't eat all the cakes they gave us! Staff were welcoming and attentive.
Excellent Day - Even Better Than Expected
The tour of Kensington Palace very interesting, loved the display of Diana's dresses. Sunny day so we walked across Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park and were ready for tea. We were expected and greeted at Grosvenor House and enjoyed Anna's tea very much.
A Truly Unforgettable Experience
My experience day was a gift from my former boss when I retired so it was very important to me that everything went according to plan. We both enjoyed every minute and will remember the unexpected kindness and concern of the Palace staff, particularly towards my disabled friend, the cheerful and helpful taxi drivers, the calorie laden but delicious tea so courteously served by Grosvenor House employees, and indeed the whole time spent in our capital city.
Our tour of Kensington Palace was exceptionally good. We thoroughly enjoyed the Last Debutante show and going round the State apartments. Diana's wardrobe was particularly interesting. Our tea at the Grosvenor House Hotel was excellent. We were given a window seat overlooking Park Lane and were served a delicious cream tea with two lots of delicate sandwiches, two pots of tea, scones and many cream cakes. We were accompanied by a man playing the piano while we dined. Amazingly good day altogether.
Super Day With Some Great Photographs To Prove It
When your daughter lives as far away as the USA, it's often not easy to find and send a birthday present to your old Dad that really hits the spot. This one did. The tour of Kensington Palace with its costume exhibitions and state apartments was fascinating, and the afternoon tea at Grosvenor House was delicious. Everybody we met was friendly and helpful and they did everything possible to make the day special.
After our tour of Kensington Palace (we took a leisurely hour and 45 mins) we made our way to Gosvenor House. We were delighted to be given lovely window seats in the cosy environment of their large grand lounge. We settled into our comfy low armchairs while a fantastic pianist played a selection of old classics and more modern numbers in the background. We were given a glass of beautiful fruit cocktail then presented with a very impressive cake stand and large pot of tea. We did our best to work through a full layer of finger sandwiches in about 7 varieties, a layer of traditional and raisin scones (complete with large pots of clotted cream, good quality jam and fantastic honey) and finally a layer of stunning cakes and pastries - mini banoffe pie, victoria sponge, eclair, fruit tart, mille-feuille etc. The service was fantastic, the atmosphere and ambience was perfect and the food was 1st class.
Fit For A King ... And Queen
A lovely way to mark Valentine's Day. The palace tour used an audio guide which meant you could make your way around the house in your own time rather than following the crowd. Grosvenor House did not disappoint. As well as the lovely surroundings, sandwiches, scones, cakes and hot tea ensured we were full by the time we left to make our way home. An excellent day which would be just as enjoyable in the summer.
Tea For Two = 10 Out Of 10
The afternoon started with a remarkable visit to Kensington Palace where we were issued with an easy to use audio guide. This enabled us to complete the tour at our own pace, but would recommend to give yourself a good 1 1/2 hours for the Palace. We then got the number 10 bus which dropped us opposite the Grosvenor House on Park Lane. We were expecting to have our tea in the lobby or in the cafe at the front of the hotel. What a surprise it was to be warmly welcomed and escorted to our reserved table in the main restaurant. We were served with a selection of finger sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and jam, followed by pastries with a pot of tea each. Our only expense was a relaxing glass of champagne each whilst a pianist played in the background. All in all it was a lovely afternoon and we thoroughly recommend this Red Letter Day.
Beautiful Palace, Beautiful Tea, Beautiful Day!
Spent 2 hours absorbing Kensington, then we were ready for our excellent tea overlooking the Park, all on a glorious sunny day.
Kensington Palace was an interesting experience and brought back many memories of the 1950s. The display of Princess Diana's beautiful dresses was an added bonus, plus the colourful Royal Apartments.
The tour of Kensington Palace was really interesting and took several hours, followed by a leisurely walk across Hyde Park to Grosvenor House where we were treated to a delicious tea. The service was excellent and the staff were attentive but not intrusive. It was a thoroughly enjoyable day and one to be recommended, and hopefully repeated.
Fantastic Day Out, Thoroughly Enjoyed The Day
The visit to Kensington Palace was very interesting and enjoyable. The tour and exhibitions there were excellent. Following on from Kensington Palace, the afternoon tea at Grosvenor House was delightful. The service of staff and the refreshments were first class.
A Very Pleasant And Relaxing Day Out
We enjoyed the visit to Kensington Palace with its nostalgic connections to Princess Diana and other historic Royalty. The short journey to the Grosvenor House Hotel for an excellent tea in pleasant surroundings with impeccable service added up to a delightful day out.
Tea at Grosvenor House was excellent - a special treat.
This was an excellent combination for a day out. All the paperwork sent on time and clear instructions. The staff at the Grosvenor House were so friendly and attentive. Kensington Palace exhibition kept us amused beforehand and again everyone was very welcoming.
The Staff At Grosvenor House Were Fantastic!
We had a lovely day, started at the Palace, it was amazing to see Diana's dresses. The afternoon tea at the Grosvenor House was delicious and the staff were lovely.
This voucher was a Christmas present from our son and made a wonderful day out in London. We were given excellent personal audio tours and made our way through the State, King's and Queen's apartments and learnt a little about life in the Palace. At the Grosvenor House Hotel we enjoyed a delicious tea, with a prime seat in the window.
Wonderful Day, We Really Enjoyed Ourselves
Kensington Palace was very interesting and it was lovely to be able to wander round at our own pace. The tea at Grosvenor House Hotel was lovely, we were sat in the window and we watched London go by while we ate our sandwiches and cakes. It was truly memorable.
