We went to the Household Cavalry Museum. Whilst not very large it was nevertheless interesting. Tea at the Grosvenor House Hotel was wonderful from the tasty sandwiches to scones with jam and clotted cream and finally dainty little cakes. The service and surroundings were impeccable and I cannot recommend this hotel more highly.

Hampton Court gardens were wonderful we enjoyed strolling through them. The house itself was not quite as thrilling as we expected, but the tea made up for that.

I had a wonderful day out at St Paul's Cathedral followed by tea at Grosvenor House. Everyone we dealt with were freindly and helpful and to make it even better the weather was perfect!

Although I have lived in London all of my life there are still places that I have never been to visit and experiences that I have never had before. Yesterday I did two things that fell into these categories, I visited The Household Cavalry Museum at Horse Guards Parade and I had afternoon Tea at Grosvenor House Hotel in Park Lane. It was a truly wonderful day and one that I shall never forget. It has also made me more determined that I should spend more days investigating this wonderful city that I am lucky enough to live in. A great big thank you to everyone who made this day such a great experience.

    Relaxing, But Memorable, Day!

The gift originally included a tour of Kensington Palace, but because of the refurbishment programme, we chose the tour of St Paul's instead - I wouldn't normally have bothered to book a tour (would simply have pottered around 'under my own steam'), but it made me realise how worthwhile it is to get the background insights! The afternoon team at Grosvenor House later that same day was fabulous! - most impressive was the fact that the front of house staff greeted us by name when we arrived! The service was fabulous, there was a wonderful atmosphere and we simply couldn't move by the time we'd eaten the sandwiches, scones and cakes! Would definitely recommend this as a gift for anyone who enjoys seeing the sights of London - and food & luxury!!

    Serendipidy!

When we realised we weren't going to see all of Kensington Palace I was a bit disappointed, as I wanted to see Diana's apartments/dresses. When we got there it was a real surprise. The booklet describing the challenge of identifying the 7 princesses was really well done, and the rooms fantastic. The dark rooms/memorabilia needed careful scrutiny, reading the clues to finally decide which princess it was. It was an interesting/exciting few hours and top marks to whoever set it up. Tea at the Grosvenor was beautifully done and very refined. We had an excellent tea, beautifully waited on and I felt like a princess for the afternoon.

    Relaxation At Its Best!

The tour round the Enchanted Palace was good but the concept was not for everyone!!! Plenty of staff around to explain what the rooms were about but not every one would want to approach staff for explainations. The member of staff in room one, set the way. Despite the tube strike we made or way through Hyde Park to Grosvenor House for tea. What an experience!!! A very relaxed experience. The ambiance was created by the surroundings and the piano being played in the background. The staff were helpful, the food was good, not rushed at all. We spent over two hours there. An enjoyable day altogether. Thanks Red Letter Days!!!

    Great Memories

Although Kensington Palace itself was closed for refurbishment they had a display called The 'Enchanted Palace' about seven princesses that have lived at Kensington. This was interesting and very entertaining. The tea at Grosvenor House was excellent and very filling. They gave us a table by a window and the staff were very attentive. Great memories.

    Highly Memorable Day

We started off at the Enchanted Palace, Kensington Palace, surrounded by many excited children! We bypassed the queues as we had tickets and were given pencil and quiz sheets, so could join in if we so wished, which as older citizens amused us. Very beautiful rooms and laid out with great imagination for the children. Initially, we felt it was more suitable for them than us, but once we got talking to the highly knowledgable guides we saw how the tour could operate at both levels. Obviously it would have been lovely to view the Palace as a whole. From there, a walk through Kensington Park to Hyde Park and the Grosvenor House for tea. The weather was kind to us and, after several rainy days, the sun was shining. The staff gave us a warm welcome and we sat at a table for two, next to the window, where we had a very relaxing - and substantial - tea to the accompaniment of a pianist. It is a beautiful room furnished in muted shades of green. All in all a great day and one to be recommended.

Very Interesting And Enjoyable Day Out

My son gave me this Red Letter Day as a Mother's Day present. We had a lovely time looking round the palace and then on to afternoon tea which was very enjoyable. The hotel was lovely, we couldn't manage to eat all the cakes and they kindly put them in a goody box to take home.

My Mum, my sister and I had a leisurely wander around the great new exhibtion at Kensington Palace and then were treated to a fabulous tea at the Grosvenor House Hotel. We took those cakes and scones that we just couldn't eat home with us in a very special cake box supplied by the attentive staff. Wonderful!!!

We celebrated our 40th anniversary in April and I bought this for us as a special treat. We enjoyed the palace but the best thing was the afternoon tea at the Grosvenor Hotel. The staff were so attentive and the tea and sandwiches just kept being refreshed. We were even given a lovely box at the end to take our cakes home that we just could not eat. A day we will not forget.

    Brilliant Day

We were delighted with our Red Letter Days. The tour of Kensington Palace was very well arranged but afternoon tea at The Grosvenor House Hotel was excellent. The quality of the food and the service was first class and the wonderful pianist playing Andrew Lloyd Webber's popular musical pieces was the icing on the cake. My husband was very impressed - so much so that he insists we go back for afternoon tea there again.

We had a truly wonderful day, Kensington Palace was like going back in time, and being an Antique Dealer I loved everything about the place. The tea at Grosvenor House was really nice, the waiters were very polite and could not do enough for you. In all we had a fantastic day.

Mum (87) and I had a really lovely day. The walking involved around Kensington Palace was not too bad as the stairs are shallow. We were lucky with the weather. The tea at Grosvenor House was delicious.

With pre-booked tickets we were escorted to the front of the queue at the Palace then enjoyed a 2 hour self-guided tour. At Grosvenor House we were greeted like old friends and taken to a window table overlooking the park. The tea was sumptuous and the food just kept on coming - a wonderful day!

History, Fashion And A Sweet Tooth!

    Susan T, 30 Jul 2009

An excellent choice for someone interested in history and fashion with a sweet tooth! Suitable as a memorable present for any age, but especially for those advancing in years. Easy to travel between Kensington Palace and Grosvenor House. Anyone living through the 1950s will enjoy the current exhibition 'The Last Debutantes 1958' as the clothes were beautiful. Some young boys were being shown how to tie a bow tie, so something for the boys as well! Tea in the Park Room was most pleasant with a wonderful pianist.

This was a special gift from our son and daughter to celebrate our ruby wedding. The visit to the Palace was wonderful - the architecture was amazing. We followed this with a walk in the gardens and as the weather was so lovely we walked all the way to the Grosvenor House Hotel in Park Lane. When we arrived at this beautiful hotel, we were shown to our reserved table and enjoyed afternoon tea whilst listening to a very accomplished pianist. After 2 hours, we then sat on the terrace and enjoyed a glass of wine, before (reluctantly) leaving this wonderful hotel.

    Great Day Out!!!

    Brenda S, 01 Jul 2009

This was brought for my husband's 60th Birthday, we had a great time, the Palace was worth the two hour tour and the staff were very helpful. The day we went it would have been Princess Diana's 48th Birthday if she was still with us! The afternoon tea was lovely, so many teas to choose from and I loved the scones!! We spend an hour and half there and it was well worth it. My husband had a great Birthday treat and we would recommend it to anyone.
