My Husband Had A Birthday To Remember
Calling all snooker lovers past and present, this experience was amazing on several levels not least becuase I managed to surprise my husbnad with a present which he would never have guessed. We have always been a fan of John Virgo since his time on television, my husband plays snooker and having the opportunity to have tips from a great player like John seemed the best idea for a present. The whole time was organised into a mini tournament between the other players with a small trophy for the winner, there were all ages from the twenties to the sixties, and John took the time to speak to everyone in the party and give them individual tips. At the end of the tournament everyone was asked to perform one of Virgo's 'trick shots'. The whole experinece was great and I would recommend this to anyone past, present and future who is interested in snooker or pool. John was a gentleman throughout and signed photographs and snooker balls as a keep sake for all who attended.
The day was everything I could have hoped for, and then some! It was the ultimate snooker experience, JV himself is a living legend and a dwindling breed of character - warm, friendly, accomadating, jovial and helpful. Virgo provided a memorable blend of comical anecdotes and practical instruction, which I found well tailored to myself, the other individual attendees and to the group as a whole. There was no problem with anyone filming/photographing all of the day's activities, so that I was able to show all of the day's events to my family and friends who'd made all this possible for my birthday and momentos for me which I'll treasure forever.
Wonderful Suprise, Great Day
I have just picked my father up from the snooker experience and he loved it!!! Great chat with John Virgo and a great afternoon's entertainment. He learnt a lot and will be carrying his knowledge to his local veterans' club to use in his next match ...
Would Be Happy To Go Again
John Virgo's famous personality put us all at our ease and his impressive skills were both instructive and entertaining. The event was well run and, regardless of our extremely mixed abilities, everyone enjoyed the Tournament and each other's company. It was obvious we were all going home very happy.
An Afternoon Of All Round Entertainment
On arrival we were welcomed, invited to take food and coffee, and shown downstairs. The programme for the afternoon was explained by John Virgo and play commenced. During this session, John invited players to improve their game by joining him for 5-10 minutes each of personal tuition. With other onlookers, he kept everyone's interest with general advice and anecdotes. He was very attentive and encouraging toward my son Mark (who I accompanied), and invited him to do one of his more elaborate trick shots; this worked especially well, much to everyone's delight. I was quite impressed at just how amiable and approachable John Virgo is; he's just right for this event. His stories and anecdotes are really entertaining, and not only for snooker players. Overall an easygoing and entertaining afternoon.
