    Controlling a skid can be an incredibly useful skill if it avoids major accidents and saves lives. Experience the merits of skid control at the Knockhill circuit. This driving day teaches you about the loss of control of your vehicle, complete with the experience of driving on ice and aquaplaning on overly wet road surfaces. The experts at Knockhill create skid pans on a non-toxic chemical surface over the tarmac to simulate these effects. As well as having adrenaline-fuelled fun, your driving confidence is likely to be significantly enhanced as a result of your visit to Knockhill.

    Availability

    Selected weekday and weekend dates throughout the year. We recommend booking at least four weeks in advance for the busy summer season.

    Participant Guidelines

    You need a full driving licence - bring it with you on the day.

    Weather

    The weather should not affect this experience, but any cancellations are for your own safety. Please call the venue if in any doubt.

    Duration

    Your experience will last for around two hours including briefing, tuition, driving time and a debrief. It is vital that you arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled start time.

    Numbers On Day

    There will be a maximum of six people taking part. Each car will be shared by three participants.

    Spectators

    Spectators are welcome and there is shelter available if the weather is bad.

    Dress Code

    Dress comfortably and wear flat-soled shoes. Wear old shoes if you can, as you might get oil or suds from the skidpan on them.

    You will be driving both front and rear wheel drive vehicles.

    Although the road to Knockhill was so slippery that I nearly had my own skidpan experience, I would have felt a lot more confident of dealing with it after the experience. The day was very well organised and although initially concerned that there were three plus an instructor in the car, we all learned from each other. The instructor was excellent and the whole experience was first class. Very impressed with Knockhill itself, but where were the ladies - you have skids as well you know. PS - I wouldn't recommend buying a second hand car from Knockhill - they get hammered.

    If you want a day to remember then I would recommend the Skid Pad Experience at Knockhill....what a day..I would love to do the whole day again..

    I was very apprehensive at first, especially after the instructor had done a demonsatration! After safety instructions and then once behind the wheel it was brilliant fun. The instructor was very good and explained everything really well. I have to say it was the best 2 hours of fun I've had in ages. Really glad I did it and highly recommend it. Thanks to my husband for buying me a Red Letter Day for Christmas that made this possible.
