  • Key Info

    Availability

At least one weekday per month, more frequently between April and October. Please be aware that experiences do not operate at weekends.

    Participant Guidelines

Minimum height is 5'2'', maximum is 6'1''. Maximum weight is 18 stone. You've got to be a confident driver, holding a full manual British or international driving licence. Bring it with you on the day.

    Weather

Driving may be cancelled or curtailed in extreme weather conditions (e.g. snow or ice) which would make driving at speed dangerous.

    Duration

Your experience will last for one to one and a half hours including in-car briefing and driving time. The one-to-one ratio in classics and the longer track length gives this course greater intensity but the same amount of driving as other courses.

    Numbers On Day

Expect to share the track. All time driving the classics is one on one.

    Spectators

A multi-million pound retro-look makeover with a specially designed balcony over the pits makes it ideal for spectators. Children must be closely supervised at all times. The Flying Club cafe offers excellent food and refreshments.

    Dress Code

Wear trousers, a long-sleeved shirt and flat-soled shoes, as the pedals in these cars are close together. Please don't wear nylon clothing. A helmet will be provided, but you're welcome to bring your own.

    Other Info

Each lap is a full two and a half miles in length, making Goodwood one of the longest mainstream circuits in the UK. High-speed laps are usually in a Mini Cooper S (subject to availability). Rights are reserved to replace any of the vehicles if necessary

    Thrills And Fortunately No Spills!

I was new to track day racing but the instructors, who are fantastic, soon had me at ease with the track which has some great long straights and lots of fast corners. I started with the DB4 which, without the modern-day driving aids, was a bit of a handful to begin with but you soon adjust and start to appreciate the power and the fantastic sound of its engine down the straights. Next up was the E-type which was a real pleasure to drive, easy to handle and, suprisingly, it cornered really well. With more knowledge of the track, so grew the confidence and the speed. So in the Lotus Cortina, which is a great little rally car that you can throw into a corner without too many jitters, I was able to catch and pass a single seater and a Mustang (no doubt on their slow outlaps but still a great feeling!). Tip: if you're new to the track, might want to start with the Lotus, as it's the easist to drive so you can focus on learning the track, followed by the DB4 and then finish with the E-type.

    Fantastic Fun!!

It was quite an experience for my 50th birthday treat driving a Jaguar E-type and the Aston on a wet day, with no power steering and brakes which are not as good as modern cars. I had a great time! The instructors were excellent and obviously knew a lot about these wonderful cars.

A Classic Day Out With Three Classic Cars

I thoroughly enjoyed the day out, which was made all the better for having knowledgeable and sympathetic staff on hand to guide me on the track, and gives helpful comments on how to get the best of the three cars I drove. All three cars were presented in tip top condition, which made the experience all the better. I shall now be able to say that 'I drove one of those once' whenever I see an E-type or DB4, or Lotus Cortina, at a car show. Taking them round the Goodwood circuit was awesome, as it is a fairly long track, which meant that three laps in each car made you appreciate each one with a decent few minutes drive. As it is a fairly flat circuit the cars get up to a good speed, although my concentration was on the track, not the dials on the dashboard. It is something that I had waited a long time to organise, and I know now that I should have done so a lot sooner.

Had a brilliant time finally getting to drive cars I never thought I would. When you get the racing line right, it's great, and when you lap an E-type in a DB4, fantastic!
