I arrived at the centre and straight away I was made to feel welcome. I had an assessment lesson and very luckily I was the only person in my group that day so I had a one to one. I was a little rusty not having ridden for 2 years but I soon got back into the swing of it. Half an hour later, I was off hacking in some lovely countryside, taking in the wonderful views. We headed back for a 3 course lunch, followed by a chill-out session to let my lunch go down before getting back in the saddle. I was then treated to an hour's lesson with a great instructor on a different horse. She was very experienced and I learn so much in that hour and got off tired but smiling! I really loved my day and would recommend it to anyone returning to riding.
It Was Worth Turning 40 For My Red Letter Day
Have always loved horses but had very little riding experience so was cautious as to how I'd manage. The initial lesson I found invaluable, with some straight talking and good advice from our guide. Then out into the countryside - beautiful setting and the sun shone for us. The 2hr Break for lunch initially seemed too long, but it did give time for sensation to return to lower limbs. The afternoon 'hack' went all too quickly - I was totally in role as the lead in Black Beauty, with the music playing in my ears. Some good banter was to be had with fellow Red Letterers. A brilliant day - courtesy of some very thoughtful friends. I am still smiling!
I had a fantastic day, all the staff were very helpful and due to my previous experience I was involved in preparing my horse before riding as well as settling him back into his stable for a well earned lunch! Food was good and was very welcomed after the morning's ride. The day ended with a lovely hack through the countryside and the neighbouring lanes. My husband even enjoyed the day and he prefers his horse power under the bonnet!!
The whole day was really good - a fantastic setting, lovely horses, good company and a lovely lunch eaten in a very nice room with lots of character. For someone like myself who had never ridden a horse it was a great 'first time' and has given me an experience that I want to repeat so I am off to my local stables to find out more about riding lessons. The 2 guides who came out with me were good company and very encouraging, they obviously had a geat love for the horses and the job they do - you soon get the hang of this riding thing! We all felt that they had paired the right horses with the right riders. My friend was in the more advanced group and thoroughly enjoyed herself also. Would recommend this to anyone - rider or non-rider.
So Good To Be Back In The Saddle!
It's been 15yrs+ since I last rode a horse. I needn't have worried as the day was fantastic. I felt safe, relaxed and had the most fun for ages. The team at Cullinghood are absolutely wonderful! They take the time to assess your skill level and were really caring. I had a bit of a 'funny turn' in the afternoon and they dealt with it calmly and professionally. On top of all this, the location is stunning. Highly recommended, and I might see you there as I'll be back!
My Second Horse Riding Experience And Not My Last!
A great day out; even the weather was kind to us! Our instructor/ride leader was fantastic. We had a session in the arena first, followed by a hack around the amazing countryside. Lunch was good; we got to eat outside by the pool. The afternoon session was another hack and our guests could have a ride also, if they wished. The other folks attending were lovely and very friendly. This is my second Red Letter Days horse riding experience and I know that it will certainly not be my last! Thanks to all for a brilliant day - I thoroughly enjoyed it, although I am feeling a little saddle sore today, I shall definitely book again!
I had such a great time on this day and because of it I can't wait to get on a horse again soon!! The centre was in a lovely countryside setting, the staff were really friendly and the whole day was really easy going and relaxing.
The staff where great really friendly and helpful. As I have my own horse and show at a high level I was put into a group that was near to my ability and it was very enjoyable. The lesson we had first was fantastic, the instructor was great. The countryside we rode around was beautiful. I would recommend this to everyone wheather a novice rider or an advanced rider. It was a great day with good home made food.
I had a fantastic time. The staff at the riding school were very attentive and tailored the activities to suit my level of riding. I self-selected additional options to stay on site overnight and take advantage of expert tuition, turning this into an unforgettable weekend.
A great experience. The day was seriously well run and the guys running the day were totally friendly and professional. I had never ridden a horse before but I was riding confidently and on my own after an hour. John Wayne eat your heart out! The countryside ride was superb and the meal was substantial and filling. Good job because you need a bit of energy to go back out in the afternoon for another country jaunt!
55 Years Old - First Time On Horseback - Magical!!
This was a Christmas gift from our children and we couldn't have chosen a better weekend - everything was absolutely perfect. The staff were so reassuring and welcoming, making you feel very comfortable right from the start. The weather was glorious, our trusty steeds looked after us, and we were taught in a very fun way that made us feel that everyone can do this. We enjoyed a ride through the woods into open fields and then back to the stables where a lovely lunch was prepared for us, which we enjoyed in the garden. After lunch, back on our horses for a gentle stroll through the fields. It was a very magical day for us.
A Great Day Out In The Fresh Air!
Staff were fantastic, the venue was brilliant and the horse riding really enjoyable. We had the option to have lessons and/or a hack for the more experienced. Those with no experience still got a walk out in the country. John, who took our lesson, was a fantastic teacher and Mark who took us on the hack, a lovely host. All in all, a great day out, although feeling the aches today!
It was a lot of fun. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I felt very confident on my horse after the lesson. All in all it was a great day, I'd definitely do it again!
The horse riding experience was wonderful. I turned up to find the most amazing setting to start horse riding again. The trainers there were really friendly and made sure we all had a good time and the food was home cooked so was exactly what you need after trying to trot for the first time in years! Overall a fantastic experience. Would highly recommend it.
Great Day Out In An Amazing Location
From start to finish this was an unforgettable day. The stables are in an amazing place where they have introduced red kites back into the wild, giving the chance to see them whilst riding. The staff were all really friendly and went out of their way if anyone needed any help or assistance. I would definitely recommend the experience to anyone with a passion for animals or the countryside!
There's Life In The Old Girl Yet!
Despite my initial trepidation, having not ridden for many years, I was soon put at my ease by the excellent instructor, who boosted my confidence and made the whole experience thoroughly enjoyable. I would heartily recommend the day to riders of all abilities, as there is plenty of help to hand to cater for all. In fact, I enjoyed it so much, I am thinking of going back to riding on a regular basis.
Highly Recommended Horse-riding Taster Day Out!
With a warm welcome, the day was off to a good start. Very relaxed atmosphere, the group was split so beginners had the instruction needed while those for a 'reminder' went off on a trek round the farm. All the horses used were docile and reliable. The break for lunch was well deserved and superbly catered. For inexperienced riders this IS the perfect day and the staff do their best to cater for those more experienced too. Arrive early to get a look around as once you're off, the day just flies by! Don't forget your camera!
Brilliant Experience Suitable For All
A superb day with lots of personal attention. Whether you are a complete beginner to an experienced rider, the riding school will organise the activity and horse right for you. The lesson was my favourite part of the day as this is when I learnt the basics of riding and controlling my horse.
It was soooooooo much fun. We went into the forest and the countryside and did some trotting and the best bit about it all was that they give you a 30 minute training session and after that we were like experts. They even provide the hats and the wellingtons. The food was nice and set in a lovely farmhouse.
Absolutely Fantastic Horsey Fun!
I arrived in the morning to be greeted by extremely friendly people. We had an assessment with a hilarious guy, who was constantly saying "let's see your smiles". We then went for a hack out in the acres that belong to the stables. Riding through the wet branches from the rain was so refreshing! We got back to the yard with small purple flowers on our horses that had fallen off the trees we went under, giving a really romantic feel. The lunch was brilliant! We then had an hour to let lunch settle before we got back in the saddle for an afternoon hack. I would recommend this experience to everyone. Whether you have ridden before or not you are in for a real treat!
Having looked forward for several months to the day, the whole occasion turned out very well. Several members of the family joined me and I was a bit concerned that they would be kicking their heels for a few hours but I needn't have worried as they all thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The stables are set in such beautiful Berkshire countryside. All the staff were extremely helpful and friendly and I was certainly made to feel very much at ease. The lunch was also particularly enjoyable in a lovely setting by the pool on a gorgeous summer's day. All in all a very enjoyable occasion that I would certainly have no hesitation in recommending to family and friends.
My wife, who bought the gift for me, came with me for the day. We were greeted by friendly staff. My wife is disabled and cannot walk far. It was a lovely day but a bit chilly for her to sit out. Maggie, the owner, let her sit in her sitting room and gave her coffee, whilst we went for a two hour hack. We all had an excellent lunch - home cooked and nice conversation. Then another hour hacking. The countryside was magnificent and the day was really very good. Would certainly like to do it again. We were very impressed with the friendliness and accomodating attitude of all the staff.
Fantastic Day, Great Experience.
This RLD was amazing. I have never been to a riding school with such great facilities before. Maggie, the owner is fantastic and welcomes all her guests - you will just want to go back again! The team of instructors were friendly and approachable. Great day out and I will definitely look to go there again.
The pony I rode was fantastic and really well matched to my ability. The rest of the group were beginners or had not ridden for a long time but to ensure that I got the best out of the day I received some individual tuition. The staff were all really friendly and helpful. The food was fantastic. Would highly recommend the day.
Well organised, everyone was very friendly and it was a great day.
It was nice to get a text before the event and we had a lovely day!
The day was excellent - but would have liked to have been off the rein. Food was superb!
The whole day was fantastic from beginning to end. All the staff made you feel welcome and the riding lesson was informative and really good fun. The lunch provided was extremely relaxed, home made and very tasty. Thank you all so much!
Recommended To Anyone With An Interest In Horses
I really enjoyed riding the horses and thought the lesson in the arena was the best part of the day. All the staff were really friendly and I'd recommend this day to anyone with an interest in horses.
The rides were adapted to our ability which made it a great day. Now ready to ride off into the sunset, but it finished at 4:30!
Everyone was very pleasant and helpful and all the horses we came into contact with were very well kept and the location was brill. This was the first time I have every gone horse riding and I enjoyed it very much.
Me and my wife had an excellent day horse riding, we rode through the woods and had a good training lesson beforehand. I would highly recommend this Red Letter Day.
We had a wonderful time due to the friendly staff that put you at ease, the beautiful horses that were amazing to ride, and the lovely lunch back at the farm house. We would go again!
We had a fantastic day out and really really pleased with our experience.
Unfortunately I had to postpone my first day as I had a back injury - all was sorted out. The staff on the day were superb - very friendly and gave me a personal service by taking me out separately to the others as I could ride and they couldn't. I will return to the stables.
Rekindled my loved for horse riding
Service leading up to the day was very good - simple steps to follow to redeem voucher, all instructions received for the day were similarly very clear and thorough. Day itself was fantastic!! Just what I was looking forward to, stables were excellent, country setting perfect, staff brilliant and the experience itself was enough to rekindle my love for horse riding to the extent we are going to start it up as a hobby!!
I really enjoyed the day, all the staff were very hospitable.
Was good from the offset, easy to book and enjoyable day.
