  • About

Whether a novice or an experienced rider, you'll love this riding day. Staff always appreciate an early arrival so you can get registered and help make sure the experience begins promptly and runs to time. Start with a half hour to one hour lesson within the grounds of the riding school, during which your instructor will assess your abilities to plan your next activity. Then continue with your lesson in the grounds or go out on a hack (including walk and trot) in lovely countryside or woodland. On your first visit, cantering is not allowed outside the arenas. You'll have three hours riding the hack, taking place before and after a typical stable hands lunch of lasagne and salad with everyone around the big table in the farmhouse.

    • Perfect for novices and experienced riders
    • Three hours in the saddle, including a lesson
    • Then get together for a very informal lunch

I am 64 and had never been on a horse, so I was a little nervous. All the staff put me at ease straight away, and I had the most amazing day and hope to go back in the very near future and do it all again.

As there were only two of us it made it more interesting as it was like having just one to one tuition. The teacher, Mark was very good and the horses cleary knew they had leaners on them. I would happily do it again.

A wonderful centre in a superb location. A warm and friendly welcome and follow up service from all the staff at Cullinghood. A great riding experience and an amazing hack - absolutely loved the gallop towards the end of the day. Other group members were supportive and we enjoyed a good laugh and relax over a hearty lunch in the house. It really felt that the rider's enjoyment was at the heart of the experience. A great day!!

Everything from start to finish was great, staff smiley and helpful, beautiful venue, good food and really nice atmosphere. We have learnt all the basics of horse riding and even my partner who is to say at least shy with the horses overcome this and enjoyed being in the saddle. We would definitely recommend this experience even for the very beginners:) Thank you Red Letter Days.

It was a pretty drive to the farm which is in a lovley setting. I arrived and after brief introductions was organised with a riding hat, paired with a suitable pony and off for my first ever formal riding lesson. I was lucky to be the only one on this particular Monday, so received one to one tuition in the spacious ring. I learnt lots in the lesson, which was thorough, professional, gave me confidence, left me feeling comfortable and relaxed with my pony, and, although I hadn't ridden for thirty years, able to recapture that feeling of childish fun! The hacking was great; we were out in the fresh air, in brilliant spring sunshine, with acres of beautiful countryside to explore. The pony I rode was happy, interactive and sweet natured; I think she was enjoying herself as much as I was. After a relaxed lunch in the farmhouse, I spent a bit of time with her, grooming and tacking. All the staff were friendly, the farm was idyllic and I would definately recommend the experience.

I always wanted to go horseriding but probably would never organise it , and was over the moon when my son and his girlfriend gave me this present. It was such a surprise! I decided that i wanted to go with someone and paid extra for my daughter to come with me as part of her 18th birthday present. I was a bit apprehensive but after a few minutes into the lesson i felt more confident and Mark the instructor was brilliant - he had a great personality! After a couple of hours in the saddle we went to lunch in the farmhouse where we started to talk to the others in our group. Lunch was delicious apart from the lack of salad but had enough to eat. After back on the horses and off for another hour in the country. All in all a great time especially after a good soak in the bath at home as everything was hurting!!

Had a great day, the people were warm and friendly, helpful and I even had one to one tuition which was amazing. Thanks especially to the lovely Mark and the lovely Paul who made the day very special. As a complete novice it was physically a very demanding day and I'm not sure I will be able to walk tomorrow! Thanks to all.

Being an absolute beginner, I was a bit nervous but the friendly and helpful staff at Cullinghood Equestrian Centre put me at ease straight away. Alison, who did most of the training, was constantly giving me instructions and ensuring that I was okay so that my day was enjoyable from start to finish.

A great day had at a lovely venue. The instruction was great and the staff friendly and approachable. The horses were all well mannered and it was a perfect introduction to horse riding. My only comment would be that the day could have been structured better with more of an explanation from staff about what the day would involve, at what times we would do things - lunch was quite a long affair where we felt a bit left to our own devices with no clear idea of where to go and what to do next! I would definitely recommend though, it was lots of fun!

The staff at Red Letter were very helpful as our request for our date was not one of the available ones showing on the website but it was all sorted and confirmed in a day.

As this was my first ever horseriding experience, I was a little apprehensive but found the staff to be positive and supportive. The horses were well behaved, if not too laid back. I would recommend this gift to anyone who wants to try horseriding as it is a great taster of what to expect.
