  • About

A perfect way to spend some quality time together as a family -novice or experienced, riding is a brilliant way to introduce the kids to a new hobby where parent also get involved. After being introduced to their ponies the instructor will teach the youngsters how to tack up before heading out for a half hour to one hour lesson within the grounds and an assessment of their abilities in order to best plan a follow up activity. Then adults can lead the children on a hack (including walk and trot) in countryside or woodland (cantering is not permitted outside the arenas during initial visits). The children have an hour and a half riding time, followed by soup and sandwiches for all of you. At the end everyone has the opportunity to groom a horse.

    • Get the kids out riding in the English countryside
    • Perfect for novices and more experienced riders
    • An hour and a half in the saddle for both youngsters
    • Adults get to lead the kids' horses before everyone enjoys a light lunch

The whole family enjoyed a lovely day out in the fresh air and beautiful Berkshire countryside. The staff where very friendly and welcoming. They also appeared to be very knowledgeable and inspired lots of confidence in the children which enabled them to fully participate and enjoy their riding experience. The day's activity followed exactly the details issued in our booking lettter, i.e. time to groom and get to know a pony, a short lesson in the riding school followed by a long walk through the surrounding fields and woods. By the time we returned to the stables we had all built up a healthy appetite and were greeted by a lovely lady who had prepared bacon rolls ready for our return. She was also more than happy to refresh our plates with a second round of sandwiches followed by ice cream! Well it was quite a long trek around the countryside! All in all a fantastic day was enjoyed by all and the children think we should come back on a regular basis!

What a fantastic and refreshing way for a family to spend the day together: a day out riding and walking together in lovely countryside. The children, both novice riders, were made to feel special and inspired with confidence to experience something new (thanks to the lovely lady at the stables who had such a lovely manner). It was completely relaxing for the adults too, who got to lead the horses and walk alongside. Everyone smiled the whole day long. We had a special experience as we were in our own little family group of 4 for the whole thing: the lesson, the ride, the lunch. Thank you to all at Red Letter Days and at the stables for a fantastic day.

Had a lovely day. There were a lot of people on different types of Red Letter Days, but it was very well organised.
