Feel the thrill of speed combined with wind and water, whilst speeding around the south coast in a Formula 4-Stroke championship Honda powerboat. After an in-depth health and safety briefing from a qualified instructor, enjoy full control of one of these powerful boats - learn how to manoeuvre and control the vehicle whilst navigating around a circuit situated along the shore line. The highlight of the lesson is the 15 minutes of driving, but don't worry, these boats have been fitted with an instructor override to ensure that they are always under complete control.
Runs on Monday or Friday dates four times a month. We recommend booking at least four weeks in advance.
Minimum age is 12 but under 18's must be accompanied by an adult. Min height is 5'. Maximum weight is 17 stone. This experience isn't suitable for anyone with a serious back or heart complaint or for pregnant women.
This is a weather dependent activity. It's essential that you call the venue for a weather check between 5pm and 7pm the evening before the experience.
Lasts for two hours including a safety briefing, one and a half hours on the water with 15 minutes driving time, and a debrief. Please arrive half an hour early to get ready, as the boat can't wait for latecomers.
There will be up to four people on board.
Spectators are welcome to wave you off from the shore. Tell them to bring a camera and a pair of binoculars.
Dress warmly and bring waterproofs and a change of clothes. Bear in mind that there is a high wind-chill factor aboard the boat. Wear non-slip shoes (e.g. trainers or deck shoes). An old pair of sunglasses/ski goggles will be useful if it is windy.
My daughter (12) and I (51) had a fantastic time. Would definitely recommend this to experience to anyone. The outfit running it were very friendly and professional. The weather wasn't exactly brilliant but it didn't dampen our spirits in any way. Will definitely do this again soon.
Great fun and fast across water with plenty of air over waves...
I brought this for my husband and he loved it, he said he couldn't stop laughing and would love to do it again!
I was apprehensive of what to expect from my day out. Although I sought an Adrenalin rush, i didnt know what to expect from power boating! From the second I arrived, I was made to feel relaxed and at ease, but this did not detract from the feeling of anticipation. Following a quick but informative safety briefing we were underway. Observing the speed limit, we left the docks, chugging out into the Solent.Suddenly our captain sat back and told us to hold tight,it was time for the fun to start. The front of the boat came up, the back went down and the engine began to scream ! I dont want to spoil it for anyone, but lets just say, it was a once in a lifetime experience! Definitely one for the "bucket list!"
A great morning on the water. A very helpful, professional yet relaxed team, and an exhilarating ride. Great fun to take the controls. Excellent weather helped
Good joining instructions - Very enjoyable session with Ebony at Shamrock Quay - Simple and clear instructions (and orders to to have fun), with attention to safety at all times. Recommended activity!
Really enjoyable run round the Solent. Couldn't make trip to isle of Wight as it was too choppy. Pilot let all of us have nice long runs with the boat including on the slow speed river section. Boat hit 40 Knots (which is about 45Mph) which felt pretty fast on the water. Would recommend avoiding if you have a bad back though - Its the bumpiest thing I've ever done I think! Also follow advise and turn up 30 minutes early for briefing unlike one of our guys who missed out. Also worth pointing out meeting point is outside bar in marquee not in the bar itself as directed.
An adrenaline rush, it's a must for all thrill seekers who love the water
Well organised and great to do something different.
Great fun, especially when you move out of the estuary into the choppier waters of the channel. Couldn't stop smiling - took a while to regain control of my hair afterwards.
Not much organisation, guy showed up 10 minutes late handed out briefing and lifejackets etc then on to the boats, the instructor was great, again when we finished there was no sign of anyone to hand the lifejackets to and so we just left them in the pub/restaurant on the back of a chair. It didn't spoil the experience but the organisation from Saber was sparse.
Fun day out, the boat goes real fast, already looking to make my next appointment this time taking my wife with.
Something I'd not done before, so I was a bit apprehensive as to what was going to happen. However I had no need to be, the Skipper was great, very informative and good fun. He advised it was virtually impossible to flip the the boat over, although we gave it good attempt on the odd occasion! We were full throttle for most of the way, and even went to the Isle of Wight. Some stunning views, would recommend to anyone. Good fun!
Well organised event. Great opportunity to try a fast powerboat on the interesting waters around Southampton Water. Warm sunny day helped make the session a great time.
What A fantastic Afternoon Tim the Skipper was excellent being allowed to throw the boat around at 40 knots was fantastic
