I had been given my Red Letter Day experience by a friend who knew of my fascination with The Globe Theatre. The tour itself was fascinating, even more so because they were doing some rehearsals for a future production which we had the opportunity to sit and watch for a while. Our tour guide was excellent, with all sorts of informationabout what would have gone on at The Globe in Shakespeare's time. There was also an opportunity to watch some practise sword fighting, and there was an exhibition going on about Elizabethan costumes andhow the actors were dressed. The afternoon tea was very tasty, with lots of variety. The staff were attentive and could not do enough for us. The whole experience was fabulous. Everyone at The Globe was so helpful, and made the day a real treat.

Great Way To Celebrate Your Birthday!

Having never studied Shakespeare, we didnt know what to expect from this tour, but we found the experience most enjoyable and interesting, thanks to our guide, who had a great way of getting over to the 'novice', the history of Shakespeare. Also, the exhibition with its question and answer booths, was a fun way of learning. We had plenty of time to visit the exhibition both before and after the tour. Afterwards,we spent an hour enjoying our afternoon tea, as the day we were there, the weather was 'baltic'! We had a table overlooking the Thames and St.Pauls Cathedral, and enjoyed a 1st class tea. Tastey sandwiches and fresh delicious dainty cakes and scones with a good choice of tea . Perfect end to a perfect day.

    Fascinating!

The staff were all very helpful and informative. We were able to get a real feeling for what it would have been like living in Shakespeare's time and especially the experience of going to the theatre. It was also very interesting to watch a presentation on dress in Elizabethan times and sword fighting.

Brilliant level of knowledge and plenty of time to explore. Staff very helpful and there was wonderful service for the tea as they supplied me with a gluten free tea when I had forgotten to prebook that so I couldn't have been happier. Had a lovely view of the Thames while we ate and booked a show as well. If you like Shakespeare you will love this day!

The tour of the Globe was led by an extremely knowledgable and witty guide. My daughter and I felt that our visit was important to her and a lot of the information was given as if personally. The afternoon tea was truly amazing, the setting and staff couldn't have been better, finishing off a wonderful afternoon.

The short walk from Waterloo along the South Bank was wonderful. The Globe exhibition was quite busy so we decided to return later, the tour was most informative and interesting. Tea was excellent and couldn't be faulted, the sandwiches superb and the cakes really delightful and well presented. As many hot drinks as you wanted with a supply of wonderful elderflower water as well. The Bistro has superb views over the Thames. It was also great that we could go back to the exhibition which by then had quietened so we more or less had the entire space to ourselves. A truly wonderful day and would recommend this to anyone.

    Wonderful Day, Great Experience

The tour of the Globe was absolutely fantastic and the afternoon tea was out of this world. Sat in seats overlooking the Thames. Wonderful atmosphere. Can't find the superlatives to describe such a wonderful day and if it hadn't been through receiving the opportunity via Red Letter Days, we probably would never have chosen the experience!

Interesting Day, Great Weather, Gut Busting Tea!

Guided part of the tour was informative and interesting but shorter than I had anticipated. We were left to explore the static exhibitions at our leisure and I felt it might have been useful to have had a guide in that area. The included tea was substantial and the service was first class. All in all a good day out.

    Very Interesting

I found out lots of little things about modern day uses of language and traditions that I thought were original but actually came from Shakespeare and his time.
