  • About

Get the 4x4 off the tarmac to find out just what it's capable of. Learn to drive at some extreme angles, negotiate slopes and traverses and even tackle water crossings on a specially designed off road course. Your instructor will start with a demo drive then you take over the Land Rover Discovery for forty minutes driving. Just you and the instructor share the car (unless you have brought spectators along for the ride), so it's your opportunity to go ahead and push your driving skills to the limit.

    • Take advantage of our special offer price, from £99 to £48
    • Drive a Land Rover Discovery through side slopes, hill climbs and descents
    • 40 minutes actual driving time
    • A one on one experience

The instructor was informative, patient and funny dispelling any nerves I had. The experience was nothing like I had imagined as I made my way round the purpose built course in a V8 Land Rover Discovery uphill, downhill, reversing blindly up slopes, driving through large puddles and side driving which leaves you slightly exhilarated you made it round in one piece and didn't tip over. The only disappointment was there were no photo opportunities as originally stated in the description but would recommend to anyone who is thinking of having a go, make it happen! Thank you True Grip Team.

A purpose-built course situated in stunning farmland / countryside. On arrival at the venue there is ample parking and a reception building with all-important tea & coffee-making facilities, clean toilets etc. An instructor then drives you (in the 4x4) approx 1 mile through farmland to the actual course, explaining some of the key technical concepts as you go. Once off the public road, you take the driving seat! My instructor proved to be very patient and knowledgeable. The sequence of events is that you are directed to bring the vehicle up to a particular obstacle (e.g. steep slope, water, etc), pause, and the instructor then explains the correct manner in which to tackle the obstacle. Then you drive through it... On my visit in January there was the added bonus of genuine snow & ice! There are a range of obstacles with varying steepness, the instructor deciding which ones will be safe (and yet still challenging), according to weather conditions & participant ability.
