  • About

You can't beat driving around in military vehicles and shooting classic weapons, and this army-inspired experience day lets you do just that. You'll be kitted out in a camouflage suit and helmet then given a full safety briefing. Next, it's time to drive three military vehicles around a tough terrain track (usually a Russian Grozdilka tank, an FV 432 armoured personnel carrier and amphibious Hagglund tracked carrier). The best driver of the day gets to crush a car with a 56 ton Chieftain tank! This military experience also features going on an SAS woodland patrol, and the possibility of learning how to load and fire mortars and muskets. You can even attend an armoury lecture and see a demo or try clay-pigeon shooting.

    • Have a go at a range of classic military vehicles
    • Shoot classic weapons like mortars and muskets
    • Best driver of the day can go car crushing with a Chieftain tank
    • All the fun, none of the real danger!
  • Key Info

    Availability

At least two Saturdays from March to September.

    Participant Guidelines

Minimum age is 13. Minimum height is 5'2''. You'll need to be reasonably fit to take part. You don't need a driving licence or any driving experience.

    Weather

The weather shouldn't stop this experience going ahead, but any cancellations are for your own safety. There are covered areas on site to shelter in if it's wet.

    Duration

Your experience will last for about four hours, from 9am to 1pm or from 2pm to 6pm, including around 15 minutes driving time.

    Numbers On Day

There will be up to 30 people taking part.

    Spectators

A £15 spectator fee (payable on the day) includes a ride on some of the vehicles. You must let us know spectator numbers in advance (min age 7). Facilities are basic but spectators will be able to watch most of the action.

    Dress Code

A camo suit and helmet will be provided, so there's no need to wear anything special. Bring wellies and gloves (spectators too) - this one is not for the faint-hearted and everyone usually gets pretty muddy!

    Other Info

In the event of mechanical breakdown a suitable alternative vehicle will be used.

It was a gift for my husbands 40th and he had a great time the offices that were doing it were brilliant and he enjoyed the talk on all the weapons. My 8 year old went as well and they treated him brilliant let him go in all the tanks so he had a great time as well. Well worth the money and would to it again.

Superb experience driving three different tracked AFVs. Nick and his team a Tanks a lot were very professional, friendly, informative, and obviously enjoy their work. Despite what might easily be a dangerous environment, with novices driving tanks around, they put great effort into not only making everyone safe, but also feeling safe too. Lots of banter and anecdotes from the instructors to keep everyone entertained during the waiting periods too. First class all round.

The whole day was well organised and great entertainment. The staff at the site were friendly and interesting and added to the enjoyment of the day. I would recommend this for all ages, with or without military interest.

Was a brilliant day for my husband. My son, daughter and daughter in law also enjoyed the experience. I only have one suggestion, for those that are less able (like myself) and spectating could you have a jeep that could take us from one activity at the event to the other.

    Great Day

Little did I know that my 65th birthday present from my family would provide me with a day that tested my resolve and my ability to control the sheer excitement of the occasion. Mighty machines that needed light handed touches in order to control them. Wow!!!

My Husband Thought It Was Brilliant Fun

I bought this experience for my husband's 40th and it was a great day out for us all. The staff were very enthusiastic and funny and my son who spectated like myself was given the opportunity to drive a humvee vehicle which was a brilliant experience for him as he is only 10 yrs old. We found the day a very safe and well organised event and would definitely take part in another event like this one.

Wet, Cold, Muddy - But Fantastic :)

I had such a good afternoon out in the rain and mud - was good to get to drive the tanks and see how they work. Even though it rained most of the day it made it all the more exciting as there were bigger water holes.

From the time that I decided to do the tank experience, it was so easy to book and arrange. I enjoyed the day immensely and would certainly recommend it to family and friends. By the way, there is a points system whilst driving the tanks and I came 2nd. I was well pleased.
