Absolutely Awesome Experience
Our host Matt was interesting and informative throughout the day.The real buzz was actually handling and flying the birds. I got to fly 3 different Harris hawks and a Lanner falcon and at the end of the day invited to help feed a variety of other birds. My expectations for the day were totally exceeded - if I had flown one bird I am sure I would have been delighted but to fly 4 and handle several others was a dream come true.
A truly incredible experience. The morning was very informative, it was a pleasure to be shown around by Mat who was able to tell us not only about the breeds but also the individual birds and relate his experiences as a falconer. The afternoon was the most amazing experience, getting to handle the birds and then fly them to the hand. They really are beautiful birds and to be so close to them was a privilege. Taking Cedar and Henry, the Harris Hawks, to the field and see them flying free was a truly breathtaking part of the day. Thanks to my wife and daughter for an amazing 40th birthday present and an experience I would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone.
A Day Never To Forget - Fantastic !
The whole day was a complete and fulfilling experience. Being able to spend so much personal time with the birds was amazing. I am going to do this again - I cannot stop thinking about my day.
Very Well Organised, Would Totally Recommend!
Had a brilliant time, my wife came along for a small fee, after all I wanted her to experience my reaction to the wonderful day she had bought for my birthday. Cannot recommend it enough! Brilliant day out, all the staff very very helpful and caring that we all had a wonderful experience.
From start to finish I enjoyed a really great day. There was a good selection of birds to handle and good instruction from the staff. Everyone was treated to individual attention, which helped to make the day really memorable. I didn't want the day to end!
Set in beautiful countryside, this was an educational and fun day. The staff are exceptionally knowledgeable about the birds, from the lineage to present day, and can answer any question you throw at them. The highlight of the day was meeting Ghenghis the Golden Eagle, a majestic bird who takes no prisoners! Also recommended is meeting and flying Russell and Cheryl Crowe. The food is freshly prepared and locally sourced. All in all a fabulous day out!
A Day I Will Never Forget
A fabulous day and one I will remember for a long long time.I was amazed at the selection and number of birds. My son came along as a spectator and was included every step of the way with the exception of not being to handle the birds. The lunch that was provided was first class.
A Great Day, With Some Beautiful Birds
Staff at the venue were polite, knowledgable, funny, patient and perfect hosts. From having owls fly to our gloves, then to the larger and stronger Harris Hawks, was a great thrill for all of us, and many many photos were taken. I can't recommend it highly enough - though perhaps not perfect for a vegetarian or anyone who is particularly squeamish - But it is a Bird of Prey experience! The clue is in the name!
The Birdman Of Knutsford!
The wonderful collection of beautiful birds was impressive. They ranged from the smallest and cutest of burrowing owls to the largest and most impressive of sea eagles that I had ever laid eyes on. The day was not only informative, educational, exciting and emotional, but towards the end of the course when we were out in the woodland, with a trio of Harrier Hawks soaring around us and gliding down majestically to land onto my outstreched gloved hand, I had a real sense of what it was like to be a true Falconer and a Birdman of Knutsford. I will not hesitate to recommend this day to all and will never forget the people and special birds I met.
Fantastic, Worth Every Penny
This experience was worth every penny. The involvement with the birds was unbelievable. We learnt how to tie a slip knot one handed, so as to tie the bird to the gauntlet; we handled them, fed them, flew them and weighed them. We watched two half hour shows of the birds in flight. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone with an interest in animals.
Fascinating Day Full Of Interest
The activities we did and the Falconers were first class. The talks were interesting and there was a lot of hands on as well. Recommended.
All the staff were wonderful, the birds were unbelievable, it was a day to remember. Thanks to all the staff at the birds of prey centre.
Excellent Value For Money And Memories For Life
An absolutely amazing experience which was excellent value for money. The day included watching vultures at feeding time, two aerial displays with us participating, holding a variety of birds starting with the smaller ones until you get a bit braver, learning some of the techniques of falconery and them being let loose in the wild with your own bird of prey. My pictures are memories for life and I'm still on a high about the day!
