With a spirit of adventure at the core of its character, the great outdoors has always been the territory of the Land Rover brand. These iconic off-roaders weren't built to sit nose-to-tail in rush-hour traffic - you need to get them off the tarmac to find out what they're really capable of. On this experience you'll tackle some challenging terrain in one of the following king of the road vehicles - a Land Rover Defender, a Discovery or a Range Rover Sport. You'll start with a thorough safety briefing and a welcome tea or coffee before your instructor shows you around your vehicle, explaining the impressive capabilities of these 4x4s. Then get behind the wheel yourself to conquer the muddy climbs, drops and hazards of an exhilarating off-road course, in stunning surroundings. Most venues have excellent facilities, including disabled access, catering, toilets, shelter and parking. A simple lunch is included, this exciting experience is bound to give you an appetite.

More information

Participant Guidelines: Minimum age varies from 17 to 21, depending on venue. You must hold a full manual driving licence; bring it with you. Some venues specify that you must have held your licence for at least two years.
Weather: Driving may be cancelled or curtailed in extreme weather (like flooding or high winds) which makes off-road driving dangerous. Please call the venue if in any doubt. Don't despair if it's pouring; wet weather often makes the best 4x4 driving conditions.
Duration: Your experience will last around six hours, including at least 80 minutes of personal driving time.
Numbers On Day: You'll share your session and Land or Range Rover with two other participants, taking turns to drive. Your instructor will be in the vehicle at all times.
Spectators: Spectators are tricky to accommodate because this experience is so off-road, but guests are welcome to come along, wait and use the on-site facilities at most venues (please check when booking).
Dress Code: Dress for the outdoors, with stout boots and a waterproof jacket.
Availability: A selected Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday date once a month throughout the year. We recommend you give several weeks advance notice for the most popular weekend dates.
Other Info: All these venues are British Off-Road Driving Association members. All instructors are specially trained by Land Rover. They'll do their best to get you behind the wheel of your preferred model, subject to availability.
