Step on board the Belmond British Pullman, sister train to the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express, hauled by a magnificent steam engine. Is there any more glamorous way to travel? Each beautiful vintage carriage dates from the 1920's or 1930's and is staffed by the Pullman's famous liveried stewards. Choose to visit either beautiful Bath and enter the Roman Baths or see Brunel's SS Great Britain in Bristol. The journey begins in style, with Bellini and brunch en route. On arrival, disembark for a walking tour, followed by some free time for exploring. On the return journey, relax and enjoy a glass of champagne and a sumptuous four-course meal with wine.
The next and final date for 2014 is 24 September. Please book early to avoid disappointment; all booking is subject to limited running dates and availability.
Minimum age 16. If a vegetarian meal is required, please advise at point of booking. Smoking is not permitted on board. Only folding wheelchairs can be stored on board and some mobility is required on the train and the excursion.
The weather should not affect the experience, however please note that the train runs on the public rail network and is subject to any imposed delays (although this is one train that no-one minds being delayed on).
Trips last around 11 hours, depending on choice of train and location. Receive tickets, confirmation of departure times and a full itinerary by post shortly before the departure date.
Up to 26 passengers share the carriage. Most tables are for two, but the train also has tables for one, three and four. All seating is allocated subject to availability on the day by the supplier and cannot be guaranteed.
Smart/casual wear (no jeans or trainers). Please remember that for part of the excursion guests are outdoors.
Please note that very occasionally, the steam engine may be substituted with diesel or electric traction in case of mechanical breakdown, engineering works or for reasons of fire risk in very dry weather.
