What could be more quintessentially English than a delicious afternoon tea served in charming surroundings? Give in to tea and cake cravings at one of a range of hand-picked venues, including charming hotel restaurants and lounges. What's included will vary according to the location chosen - for example be served a traditional English cream tea, a tea with finger sandwiches and homemade cakes, fancy pastries and champagne, or cakes and cocktails, and some venues offer the experience for more than two people. Whichever it is, find the perfect spot to relax on any occasion from Mother's Day to 40th birthday celebrations, and indulge and while away an afternoon. Tuck in!
Bookings are offered seven days a week at most venues (bear in mind that hotel venues can be much busier during summer months).
Everyone is welcome, but at least one guest must be an adult (18 or over).
Tea is served in the afternoon, usually between 11am and 6pm.
The majority of venues offer this experience for two people, although there are options included within our range for three and for four.
Most hotels request smart casual dress.
Afternoon tea at Number 12 was the final event at my future daughter in law's hen week end. I had left it rather late to book, however, the staff made an exception and accommodated us in exceptional style. At all times they were friendly and attentive, and ensured alternatives were provided for some of our party. A wonderful end to our week end. Thank you.
A nice tea on a nice summer day
Delicious selection of cakes, the scones were still warm from the oven. The venue was gorgeous, staff were polite and welcoming.
very good service and content
A very enjoyable treat
The food was very good quality - loads of clotted cream and homeade rasberry jam. Great cakes. I could have eaten another finger sandwich or two (but I can eat alot!). Sandwiches were lovely. Some bone china would have been nicer and tea leaves rather than bags but it was good tea and plenty of it - they also brought another fresh pot. I would go again.
Its hard to find fault, the food was fantastic and the service was prompt and efficient. Although the temperature outside the venue was high the room was cool and comfortable. Although we had not planned to sample the wines on offer, the hospitality was extended for us and we enjoyed that. Possibly provide a cushion as the seats were wooden and could have been made a little more comfortable but this did not detract from the enjoyment. Will certainly be visiting again....soon.
Good location ,easy to find. Once in the club nice atmosphere, helpful staff, food lovely and all in all a very chilled relaxing experience.
Since we last visited Blagden Hall a complete refurbish. The service was excellent only exceeded by the afternoon tea
Had a lovely time was made to feel very welcome by all the staff, nothing was to much trouble, lovely setting for Afternoon Tea.
Excellent food, good service, over-all would highly recommend this venue.
A very relaxing afternoon tea in a lovely hotel where the friendly staff were eager to please! There wasn't many sandwiches but the cakes and biscuits certainly made up for it!,
The sandwiches were delicious and plenty of cakes and scones and non stop tea. The manderine drink was different. We were not offered any sparkling wine. Speaking to another couple they were not offered it but had to ask. However the staff were very accomodating. The place was very comfy and would go again.
Had an enjoyable afternoon tea. Beautiful location, peaceful and picturesque. Great service and yummy tea. Thankyou very much
we would recommend Shelley Tea rooms to anybody if they like old tea rooms ,the food was very fresh and tasty
Had seen the place from the outside before, but had not been inside until this time. Very quaint interior, with the narrowest staircase I have seen! Due to the narrow building the seating is a bit cramped, but manageable. The food was excellent, with a choice of sandwiches, fruit cake and warm scones with clotted cream and jam - superb! Service was slow, but the place was busy. All in all great value.
Chilham is a period village with a castle and Shellys tea room is housed in a listed building on the market square. If you want to have afternoon tea in a soulless hotel, don't visit Shellys tea room. It has warmth, friendliness and good food with a beautiful aspect from the windows. It's full of history, including the steep staircase to the cloakroom, but book ahead as it's tiny. We loved it so much we bought gift vouchers there for our friends to visit too!
Beautiful setting, sat in the walled garden outside, the tea was refreshed and topped up regularly, the sandwiches, scone and small petit four items were delicious and the pimms jelly was very tasty. Lovely treat day out with the ladies from work! Would highly recommend!!!
The serivce made you feel very special - a treat of a luxury day
