A delicious tea served in a beautiful hotel set in lovely grounds. Friendly staff who were very attentive.
Grovefield House is a delightful hotel: the staff were polite and professional, and the service was excellent. The afternoon tea was amazing. We had four rounds of sandwiches cut into three with the crusts cut off (salmon, egg mayonnaise and watercress, ham, and cucumber). The scones were large and served with Tiptree strawberry and raspberry jam along with clotted cream. The other cakes included carrot (I think) and walnut slices with cream, meringues with cream and ginger and strawberry slices on top, chocolate profiteroles, mini chocolate brownies that exploded with a liquid flavour when bitten, mini chocolate cup cakes with ganache (I think) in the middle, the most wonderful mini lemon curd tartlets made from superb pastry, flapjacks, biscuits, and slices of strawberry (hope I've not missed anything out!) There were a range of teas available as well as coffee. Overall, we had a very enjoyable and memorable time and I would recommend this to friends and family.
The food was good and more than enough for the two of us with an endless supply of tea and coffee. The staff were friendly and very polite
Extremely attentive staff from the moment we walked in.Too much to eat in one afternoon for us and they kindly wrapped the cakes in tinfoil for us to enjoy later. The dining room overlooked a lawn and lake , and we enjoyed watching the abundance of wildlife. An interesting building which we were able to look around and were even given a sheet with the history on after asking. A really enjoyable afternoon and will consider another destination next time, when visiting another part of the country.
We arrived at the venue about 15 minutes early and were seated in a lounge waiting area and offered drinks. We were shown to our table by a very nice young lady who served us and was very polite and attentive.
A small group from St Alban's Church in Cheam enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea at the Hickstead - plenty of food, excellent staff in a wonderful welcoming ambiance - I would highly recommend it and would certainly be going back for more!
Although looking at the exterior of the hotel I wondered what to expect I was pleasantly surprised at the warm and friendly welcome and the fantastically presented, fresh and delicious food served. Never judge a book by its cover. I will certainly consider returning or recommending to friends
Purchased this for my mum's 80th birthday and she had a very enjoyable time. The Hickstead is off the beaten track and is a nice getaway for a relaxing afternoon tea. Speaking of which there was plenty to eat and drink and if you can't finish everything the staff are more than willing to put it into a "doggy bag" to enjoy later on! Personally couldn't eat for the rest of the day as was so full up! Thoroughly recommended.
This was my fourth afternoon tea for two and it was absolutely perfect .I couldn't fault it if i tried. We will definitely return to charingworth manor.Well done Excellent.
My oldest friend and I went for a combined birthday celebration. I was very impressed by the service, attentive but not obtrusive. The scones were warm with lashings of cream and jam served in bowls, the sandwiches were tasty and traditional, egg mayonnaise, smoked salmon with pepper and ham with mustard, maybe a little too much if I'm being picky, and the cakes were to die for. Strawberry, cream meringue, chocolate cake and eclairs. All made on the premises, as were the shortbread biscuits. The sandwiches freshly made, not chilled which I have experienced once before at another venue. Went in January so only one other couple having tea at the same time, so might be different at the height of the season. Also impressed by the clean and nice smelling ladies toilets, I always notice these things. All in all I would heartily recommend this venue, even more so as I purchased the experience during the sale. However it would have been worth the full price.
We visited on a cold and wet day, but the venue was warm and welcoming. The tea was delicious with home made cakes and scone. The lounge was elegant with a sense of history and very comfortable.
Table laid ready and waiting for us in the Lounge right next to the window, overlooking Harrogate.
The staff were very welcoming and the young man who served us was extremely pleasant and helpful. The food was impressively presented as well as delicious. My partner can not eat butter and I had mentioned this on the form before the day but when the sandwiches came with butter on the young man made every attempt to sort out the problem. We thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon and the setting was beautiful. We had been given Champagne Afternoon Tea last year as a gift from my son ... not a Red Letter Day .. and the comparison was great. This was a far superior effort and there were lovely touches with the special little cakes in the shape of swans, thank you for a memorable day.
I bought this for my mum who is 83 and lives a 140 miles away. It was really special to have a couple of hours together in really nice surroundings. The Staff were very attentive and the food was really nice.
The location was beautiful. Farington Lodge is in its own grounds and was so peaceful although many people there. They were so helpful as I do not have a printer so used the card that came with the paperwork and they were quite satisfied with that. I would recommend the service you provide to anybody interested in a tea for two experience. Well done..
This was a gift I bought for my parents. They had a wonderful time at Bagden Hall. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble.
Very efficient service plenty of time to enjoy a delicious and plentiful array of sandwiches, cakes and scones washed down with an endless supply of tea or coffee. Even had some left over to take home for the children.
We received a warm welcome from staff and, as it was a beautiful day, were able to sit out in the lovely garden. The food and service were impeccable and we were very well looked after. The friend I went with eats a gluten-free diet and they gave her an excellent selection of sandwiches and mini cakes and desserts. What a treat! I would happily recommend this as a great gift. The only downside was that they had to rearrange our booking as they needed the hotel for a wedding on our original date. That's not to take away from what was the perfect afternoon tea.
We were welcomed with friendliness and warmth. Beautiful surroundingsand a wonderful hotel. Really scrumptious tea with endless pots of tea. Really friendly and attentive staff. I highly recommend The Hickstead.
Very impressed with venue and the service. First class in every way.
