Let's be honest: golf is not an easy sport to master. There is nothing terribly intuitive about hitting a tiny ball with a long stick. So even experienced players can sometimes benefit from a bit of coaching. With this experience at a Marriott Hotel and Country Club you'll get just that - plus the opportunity to play 18 holes on a superb course. You'll start off by having an assessment of your game from one of the golf professionals, followed by an intensive lesson. Depending on numbers on the day, this will either be an hour-long lesson in a small group, or a 30 minute one-to-one lesson. After this chance to brush up on your technique, you're free to enjoy a round of golf. Each country club has a championship course, and many have hosted prestigious tournaments. Some clubs have two golf courses, you will play the resort's course or the championship course (depending on availability). For the next three months you'll be able to use the email golf helpline service (maximum six emails).

Played My Best Round Of Golf Ever

With a few simple tips in my lesson, on both the long and short game, I subsequently played my best round of golf ever. Assumming I play more regularly, I can easily envisage dropping 10 shots from my handicap in a very short period of time. The course was easy to find, in excellent condition, and very picturesque.

Great Day Out, Impressive Course

Best Present Ever!

Improved My Game Instantly

The day started with pro coaching. I found the coach to be knowledgable and came across fantastic. Very useful tips that I will take forward on to my golf game which I felt improved my game instantly. The course was a little disappointing with all its hilly contours but although tough was still enjoyable.

Great Day Well Spent

We were looked after by all the staff at the hotel. The golf pro was bright and cheerful and both of us found the lesson to be very helpful. Follow that with a good round of golf on a great course, and there you have the recipe for the perfect birthday present - my thanks to all involved.

Key Info

Availability: Weekends and weekdays at some venues, weekdays only at others. Peak summer weekend dates are very popular and can be booked up far in advance.

Participant Guidelines: No handicap certificate is required, but proficiency equivalent to a maximum 28 for men and 36 for women is expected. As a guide, you should be able to complete a professional course with an average of under 100 shots.

Weather: Bad weather may affect play. Marriott will call you the evening before your experience to advise if your tutorial is called off and to arrange an alternative date.

Duration: Tuition will last for 60 minutes as part of a group or 30 minutes one-to-one.

Numbers On Day: Tuition will be in a group of a maximum of four people to ensure lots of attention for everyone.

Spectators: Guests are welcome at all of the country clubs, and can use the bar and restaurant facilities while they are waiting. Please note that guests do not play.

Dress Code: Golf shoes MUST be worn (available for a small hire fee on the day). No jeans please. If you don't have your own set of clubs or other equipment, you can prehire some by contacting the golf shop direct (£15 to £35, depending on venue).
