Brilliant Course - Would Recommend
It was a brilliant course - fun and informative. Eddie, the head chef, was very entertaining and knowledgable. I went away with the confidence to attempt sushi making at home.
Fabulous chef showing and explaining skills in basic language and via demonstration - even I got the sushi to look like sushi not a sausage roll!
The teacher made Sushi seem so easy! He was a great instructor and full of enthusiasm for his subject. He inspired confidence and we've already been and bought the things necessary to make our own Sushi at home :-)
Despite the chilly weather, there was a warm welcome at Yo Sushi St Pauls. After a lovely hot glass of green tea we started off with a bit of sushi history, then it was straight into the rolling and tasting. I found the whole course fascinating, and it was all rounded off with a delicious lunch. Excellent - highly recommended!
A Great Intro To A Whole New Culinary Dimension
I have eaten sushi before but never thought of making it myself. The school took away much of the mystery, explained a great deal and showed how easy it is to make great tasting, healthy and different food.
We were made to feel very welcome at Yo! Sushi - the head chef Eddie gave very clear instructions in a fun but very informative way. He answered any questions and it was good to eat some of the produce of our labours. The Bento boxes that were provided for our lunch were delicious.
The Best Gift I've Ever Received!
The sushi workshop was my birthday gift, and as soon as I saw what it was I knew right away that I would enjoy it immensely. And I was right! Even though I already had some background knowledge about the history of sushi and preparation techniques, I learnt a lot of interesting and useful things at the workshop. The Chef conducting the lesson was a real pro, and the experience was even more exciting with the jokes and laughs that accompanied the process. Believe me, you will never taste sushi as good as the ones you make yourself!
The Best Food In The World!
The sushi school at Yo! Sushi was a brilliant day. It was really interesting learning about the history of sushi. The lesson was fun and will help me make great sushi at home. The teacher was very knowledgable and funny - made the day really enjoyable. He went at a speed that everyone was happy with and knew the answers to any questions thrown at him. I went straight out afterwards and bought ingredients for sushi and plan to make lots of it at home now knowing the right way to do it! I'll definitely be enrolling on the level 2 class!
Had a fantastic morning at Yo! Sushi St Pauls. Head chef 'Pogs' was great fun and made the whole experience very interesting and enjoyable. I was amazed at what I was quickly able to create, when shown 'how its done' by a professional ! I left fully equipped with the tools and knowledge to finally make my own delicious sushi. Highly recommended!!
The venue was at St Paul's Yo Sushi which is a lovely place. The presenter, chef Anthony was very good at explaining the history of sushi, how to prepare the rice and cut the fish, and ultimately the technique how to make the sushi. We got to try some of his creations and get some insperation for our future attempts on our very own produce. We were offered lunch at the end which was delicious and at the same time a great ending to a lovely time.
A Reallly Interesting Lesson
It was well organised and a good lesson. The Head Chef at Yo! Sushi was fantastic and gave us just the right amount of information for one lesson.
Unlocking The Sushi Secrets!
Brilliant! We loved every minute. We'd tried to make sushi at home before the course, and found it difficult or impossible to achieve good results. But after being taught about sushi history, equipment, ingredients and a few 'all-important' technique tips, we made decent maki and California rolls along with vegetarian hand-rolls. The included lunch was fab, and more than we could eat! Highly recommended!
Yo! Emsushi (I Loved It So Much I Made It Mine)
I was greeted by a friendly gentleman who made me feel very welcome with a warm smile and a complimentary cup of green tea. Our group were all seated around the main service area each with a dish of various ingredients; as with all YO! Sushi restaurants we were able to see everyone at work. The chef started by asking us how we would describe sushi and got everyone interacting. He then gave a brief talk about the history and origin of sushi, importance of cooking rice correctly and about YO!Sushi. It was interesting and kept us all entertained. He demonstrated cutting fish, how the different cuts are used and the way you utilise every piece for various dishes which we tasted. We were then showed the 3 different types of sushi we would be making, the chef talked and showed us through each step. It was so rewarding when you completed each one, lunch was then served which was delicious. I left clutching my box of my own hand made sushi, my certificate and goodies to remind me of a great day.

A Really Fun And Entertaining Experience
The sushi chef that led our class was entertaining and knowledgeable. After a little of the history of sushi, we got to try some excellent sashimi and then it was hands on. Our chef demonstrated each dish and then came round to help anyone who needed it. He was full of useful tips such as using mayonnaise to stop the rice sticking to our gloves! We had a lot of fun making and sampling our creations. Once the class was over we had a lovely lunch and then took home what we had made to show the family.
Great Course With A Very Good Teacher
A good introduction to sushi-making - from the history of sushi to how to cook perfect rice to rolling the sushi yourself. Also a good opportunity to eat lots of tasty Japanese food Yo Sushi-style. The course leader and head chef was a very good teacher. Overall it was a lovely way to spend a Saturday morning.
So Much Packed Into One Session!
The gift was for my partner who is a big fan of sushi. I decided to treat myself too, so that I could learn more about the food he loves. I found the session so interesting, the tutor was extremely knowledgable and didn't falter on any questions asked. He had a great sense of humour but also helped us all learn a lot about sushi. After the session finished I went straight out and bought the essentials necessary for good sushi making. I now can't wait to start trying the experience at home for myself. Thank you for making my gift extra special.
Had a good time learning about sushi and watching the chef at work. Managed to eat my fill as well which was a bonus! :)
Great Fun And Very Informative
Had a great morning. Very informative too, and now itching to have a go - and show off my new (if limited) skills. The tutor was great, and lunch was very tasty.
Great For Anyone Who Loves Japanese Food
I had a fantastic morning learning about the history of sushi and actually making some myself! Anyone who has a love for Japanese food should definitely give this a go!
Very Well Organised, Informative And Enjoyable
Had a great time. The class was very well organised and everything went very well. The teacher was excellent and in my opinion went the extra mile to ensure everyone enjoyed the day.
A Real Hands-on Experience For Sushi Lovers
I really enjoyed my day at sushi school. We had a fantastic teacher. She explained how to prepare a fillet of salmon for sushi, showed us how to make 3 different sorts of sushi and let us have a go at making them ourselves with our own sushi mat. And the best part? You get to eat it all (if you still have room after your lunch)! It's definitely a fab experience for anyone who enjoys sushi and wants to have a go at making it themselves.
She Made It Look So Simple!
Good fun, I now feel pretty confident making rolled sushi.
I thoroughly enjoyed the class and feel inspired now to invite all my friends for a sushi party! I really feel like I came away from the day with a new skill!
It was a really good day, chilled out and relaxed, with everything explained really well!
Great hands on experience
The morning at Yo! Sushi was great. Easy to find location, friendly staff and great hands on experience making and eating sushi and sashimi.
The tutor chef for the sushi experience, was excellent; well-informed, friendly, relaxed. He covered the ground well and I learned a lot. Everything seemed well organised and the chance to taste his cooking and have a go at our own was good.
Excellent and funny teacher
Felt like I was being given the best possible service by Yo Sushi and the teacher was excellent and funny. I was a bit apprehensive about going alone but didn't feel bad at all once arrived. The only criticism would be that the lunch was a little small and boring considering all the lovely dishes Yo Sushi could offer.
I thought the chef who taught us was great and made it fun, I just feel there wasn't actually enough hands on work. The chef is like a Japanese Rick Stein - a true master of sushi and all things fishy.
