My daughter and I had a really enjoyable and interesting evening learning how to make loads of different sushi. Not only did we learn a new skill but our teacher was really friendly and knowledgable, throwing in lots of extra bits of information about things like where to buy ingredients and what to look for in good knives. We were given a great choice of fillings to use and, in addition to having our fill of food whilst working, we came away with masses to share with the family.
Gabrielle made the afternoon very enjoyable and the sushi making very easy. I believe that this experience is something that would suit but adults and children alike.
Had a great time learning the art of sushi. The St Pauls location was excellent and a very nice environment. Our teacher was brilliant, clearly an expert and very warm and friendly too. I have lots of sushi to eat now! Recommended to all lovers of Sushi and Japanese food.
The experience was overall a lot of fun and very well put together. I feel that I learnt some new skills, which I can use after to make my own sushi at home. I really enjoyed both making and eating my sushi and the evening was a great experience. I had a lovely time!
Really unique experience to make your own sushi, delicious. Good location, very good instuction, and fun experience.
This was a really fun evening - we got to make all sorts of sushi and our teacher was brilliant. The portions and types of ingredients provided were really generous and it was nice being able to have a glass of wine and chat to other people on the course while we made our sushi. The course had lots of really nice touches, like giving us our sushi mats at the end, providing lots of custom made cartons to take our sushi home with as well as lots of chopsticks and side dishes, plus a cute little guidebook and certificate. We all thought the evening exceeded our expectations and I would really recommend it for a fun night out. Remember to tell your work colleagues you will be bringing a heap of great sushi in for lunch the next day!
Great fun evening - made it look easy and we got to take home a load of sushi we had made ourselves.
The whole experience was just wonderful, instructions clear and straightforward - instructor always on hand to help out. All done in a fun way with delicious results! We have made sushi at home before, but still learnt so much. We learnt 7 different types. Excellent value as you get to eat/keep all the sushi you have made! 3 hours well spent, I would highly recommend this as a gift or just for yourselves.
The teacher was funny, the booklets very informative, the supply of ingredients varied and plenty. I would only say that it would be great to have a couple more pieces of fresh fish...Overall it was an extremely enjoyable experience that I'd recommend doing with a good friend or even a group of friends!
Throughly enjoyed the course and left feeling that I might actually be able to tackle making sushi at home.
An informal hour and a half which was both fun and informative. I was impressed by the amount of food we made and ate and/or took away. And by how professional the results looked as well as being delicious. It was good to be able to watch the routine making of items for the restaurant (although that depended upon where one sat) while we were learning.
Great way to spend a Saturday morning, Not a particularly mad sushi fan but this is great fun. Simple dishes with simple ingredients and you get loads to either eat there or take away. So plan an evening where you can eat all you make. Instructor very good and nothing taken too seriously. Would recommend for anyone who has an interest in sushi or just a great idea for a gift.
Really enjoyed myself and the sushi was excellent. Can't wait to start trying myself at home!
Well presented and excellant host. Lacked for nothing in presentation
My son gave us a Red Letter Day Sushi School for Two; we went to Yo! Sushi in Oxford. It was great. Seven of us there with mixed age ranges. We had a warm welcome from the restaurant and then we were led through how to make a range of about 6 tasty dishes - I lost count! - by a really friendly happy sushi chef. A good host! Food hygiene was excellent and he was very aware of a food allergy in one of our group and worked round it. Some ingredients were raw, some freshly cooked by assistants as we worked. We ate and ate and still had lots to ring home as well as our sushi rolling mats and instructions on how to do it all again. A great great present - thanks Jon!!
What fun we had. We had a small group of 10 so were well looked after. We started from scratch and got stuck in straight away and made lots and lots of different types. We came away feeling ready to make sushi at home and will certainly be doing just that. Great value too and the sushi we made and took home would have probably cost half the cost of our day so just like a half price day. Have a go!
My mother bought experience for my sister and I as both foodies. Went to Yo Sushi by St Paul's and enjoyed the event. Small groups at table of 4 by the Sushi chef. Good history lesson on Sushi and really fun going through the various types of sushi on offer. Afterwards they take all the sushi you made and cut up for you to take home with good recipe book. Would recommend for any sushi fans or food lovers.
Great insight into sushi making, lots of hands on time and some to bring home, yum!
The staff at Yo Sushi were really friendly and very good teachers too. Making sushi looks very tricky and it is quite fiddly but everyone managed to make everything they taught us and we got to eat it all too. Yummers!
This was great fun to do. The chef was very good, explained things well and happy to answer questions. Thought it was quite noisy being in the restaurant but it actually added to the atmosphere. Loved the meals we made and the fact we could take away what we didn't want to eat there and then. Good that you got a booklet and mat so you could try it at home as well. Very good.
