  • About

Wind tunnels have been used for years to test the aerodynamics of cars. Comfortably able to support body weight, with speeds of up to 120 mph, the wind tunnel creates the experience of freefall without the need to plummet from a plane. Begin with a safety briefing from an instructor, before being issued with a specialist flight suit. Then brace the wind tunnel with the instructor, ascending into the air for two incredible 60 second sessions of body flying. Some lucky participants will even get to witness their instructor demonstrate some freefall acrobatics. Conclude with a debrief, and receive a DVD of the flight to take home.

    • Step into a wind tunnel for two exhilarating 60 second sessions of free flight
    • Try out different moves and techniques with the help of an instructor
    • More free flight time than skydiving - and no need to jump out of a plane
    • Take home a DVD of the flight as a memento
  • Key Info

At least one weekday and one weekend date every month throughout the year. The centre is closed on Christmas Day but operates on bank holidays.

    Participant Guidelines

Minimum age 4. Under 18's must be accompanied by an adult. Maximum weight 18 stone. Anyone who's reasonably fit, can fly. If you're pregnant, have heart, back or neck problems or have ever dislocated a shoulder, you can't fly.

The tunnel is indoors and isn't affected by the weather.

    Numbers On Day

Training may be shared in a group of up to 12. All flights are held on a one-to-one basis in the wind tunnel with a fully qualified instructor.

Facilities are excellent and make for a good family outing. Spectators can watch the action from the free viewing gallery.

    Dress Code

No jewellery or collared shirts. Please wear tight-fitting lace-up trainers (not boots). If suitable footwear isn't worn, it is compulsory to hire trainers from the venue. Jumpsuits and other equipment are provided. Lockers £1.

    Other Info

It is vital to arrive no later than the allocated time on the booking letter. Actual flights occur up to one hour after the allocated booked time to allow for an essential safety briefing before stepping into the tunnel.

It was Absolutely Amazing. Not scary at all. I took the optional extra of flying high up in the wind tunnel then down again, doing this twice, with the Instructor - a not to be missed experience!

My 11 year old daughter did the body flying for a birthday treat. She was a little apprehensive - especially as she was flying on her own and most were with friends/ family. However the instructor put everyone at ease and I was in for the briefing and to make sure she was kitted out properly. The flight of 60 seconds is really short - there is a 2-minute option which looked much better to get used to the sensation and make progress. We have rebooked to come again in a couple of months and will go with 2 x 2-minute flights. The staff on the reception desk were great - really friendly and helpful.

I bought the introduction to indoor sky diving as a gift for my boyfriend. We both had a go and loved every minute of it. I would definitely consider this again as a gift or for a day out.

My grandson absolutely loved this, especially the super speed flight to the top of the tunnel. The DVD included was a great touch, enabling him to share the experience with the rest of his family. Only downside was the limited choice of dates. Would recommend.

I had a fantastic time and really enjoyed the experience. I was a bit nervous to start but the trainers were great and showed me exactly what to do. The best bit was flying on my own.

I was given the Bodyflying experience as a present and although I was grateful and excited I was also a little apprehensive. I needn't have been, booking was easy. Everyone at the venue was friendly and reassuring. The flights were brilliant - 2 minutes doesn't seem very long but in a wind tunnel it seems like ages. There were all ages and all levels of experience there but everyone was treated the same. and all the experienced flyers were very friendly and encouraging to the novices. Fabulous experience - I'd certainly jump at the chance to do it again.

My son has a blood disorder which means he can't always take part in certain sports because of fear of injury, however, he is so active that we thought body flying would be great. It was amazing and he absolutely loved it. He said it was a once in a lifetime experience! Mind you we will go again and with some friends as we thought the instruction and care taken was brilliant.

We booked this experience for our 12 year old daughter and were not disappointed! We went to the venue in Manchester and her instructor Adi was brilliant and really encouraged her to try new moves, which developed her skills really quickly. You can pay a small fee at the venue to have the instructor spin you around, which i'm told was the best bit. She couldn't stop smiling and can't wait to go back again! Go for it!!!
