Diving with sharks is certainly nerve-wracking but is sure to be an amazing experience to remember for years to come. Start with some scuba training, which takes between one and two hours, including a full briefing on scuba equipment and techniques, followed by a practice session in a swimming pool. Then it's time for a half hour dive in the aquarium for an experience of a lifetime. Shark species vary between venues, but you might be swimming with sand tiger sharks, lemon sharks, angel sharks or nurse sharks. There are also other big fish to look out for such as stingrays, conger eels, and shoals of smaller species. Play with the smaller fish and wave through the glass at visitors to the aquarium as the sharks swim around.
Selected dates once or twice a month (depending on venue). We recommend booking at least six weeks in advance.
Minimum age is 16. You must be comfortable in water and in good health. If you suffer from claustrophobia, asthma, respiratory/heart problems, certain other medical conditions, or are pregnant, you can't take part. If in doubt, seek medical advice.
Training takes between one and two hours and the dive lasts for approximately half an hour. Please note that there may be a delay of up to an hour and a half between the training and your dive. Expect to spend up to five hours on-site.
Briefings and scuba training are carried out in small groups. Following the briefing, dive two or three at a time, accompanied at all times by an instructor.
Admission for two spectators is included. Additional spectators are welcome for a fee, payable on the day. Please inform the venue in advance of the number of additional spectators when booking.
Bring swimwear, a towel and a change of clothes. All other equipment, including air tanks, mask, wetsuit/dry suit, boots and gloves are provided. Glasses must be removed when diving but you can wear contact lenses.
A medical questionnaire and liability release form must be completed before diving. If you are in any doubt of your ability to take part, please see a doctor to confirm suitability prior to booking. Terms and conditions apply.

A great day out
This experience was given to my 21yr old grandson and he can't wait to do it again. Four members of our family went to the sea life centre near Edinburgh and while my grandson was enjoying his training session the other three of us were treated to a guided tour of the centre and then shown the best place to stand to see my grandson swimming with the sharks. We took loads of videos and have wonderful memories of the day.
A dive with the sharks is an incredible experience and the staff at Blue Planet are so helpful and knowledgeable. Certainly something for your bucket list.
Great few hours at the blue planet, Julie our dive Instructor was BRILL! So was the rest of her team. Also the two safety divers did a top job keeping us in one piece much to the wife's disapointment.
I bought this as a Birthday gift. Although my fiancee was a little anxious initially, he really enjoyed himself. The staff and divers were professional and very friendly and helped him feel at ease. After training in a pool he got to dive with a variety of sharks and other fish, stingray etc. What a wonderful experience! How many people can say I dived with sharks!!
Wow, what can i say, did the scuba diving with sharks experience through Red Letter Days and have to say as experiences go this is easily the most enthralling and exciting thing i have done......the staff at Blue planet really looked after me and were very professional in the training given......for something a little different this comes highly recommended.....thanks to staff at Red Letter Days too for handling my questions about this experience in a very proffesional manner
It was such an awesome, surreal and unforgettable experience!!
If you have always fancy doing something out of this world I would do this. You will never for get it the rest of you life.
Absolutely amazing. Great few hours, good instruction on dive techniques prior to going in with the sharks. Staff very helpful, knowledgable and pleasant. This was on my list to do and if you can't do it in the wild this is the next best thing, the sharks are big and get close enough to touch. Highly recommended.
This was an experience i will never forget. It was totally relaxing and mindblowing to be in such a tranquil habitat. I am not mad but truly felt peaceful and trouble free for that 30 mins. I would love to do it every day. Just stick some fins on me.
My swimming with sharks experience was a Red Letter Day present from my family for my 50th birthday, i was looked after throughout the day by the Aquarium staff. The training was profressional. A really good day out. Thanks.
Staff were patient and supportive. Fantastic for both diver and for supporters.
I had a great time swimming with sharks at the Blue Planet Aquarium. The staff were friendly, accommodating and above all patient! I was particularly impressed (and delighted!) when I was told that a member of staff would be happy to take pictures for me because I didn't have any spectators. It was very thoughtful and kind and I now have some fabulous photos to show everyone! A great experience, would recommend.
The staff were brilliant, well informed and very helpful, I would recomend this to anybody who has an intrest in under water life.
I got this for my Husband's 50th birthday at his request. He says it is something he has always wanted to do, and now he's done it he wished he had done it years ago because it was fantastic, and he will be taking more scuba diving training at our nearset diving centre. He would recommend this to anyone that likes swimming and enjoys being under the water.
A fantastic experience - getting so close to one of natures most feared predators was truly incredible!
The dive was awesome, the trainers wonderfully patient and good at putting us at ease since we were all a little nervous! The sharks and other fish were beautiful and putting my hand against the glass in the tank 3m down while my 5yr old son put his on the other side in the walkway will stay with me forever!
Great experience, from the briefing and scuba training to the dive itself, everything was enthusiastically explained and demonstrated by people who obviously love what they do. A few pre dive nerves soon vanished once under water and watching the sharks glide by only a few inches above our heads was amazing. Also giving the smaller fish "sand baths" to help keep them clean was fun - they seemed very appreciative and kept coming back for more. Overall a very memorable few hours.
Outstanding experience where I got to get 'up close and personal' (within inches!!!) with the sharks, sting-rays, trigger fish, jack crevalles and lots of other marine life. I even got to 'massage' a couple of the bigger fish by sprinkling sand over them. The whole day was truly amazing. I can't thank all the staff at The Blue Planet Aquarium enough, they were fantastic and really looked after me and my specatator throughout the day and I would highly recommend this to anyone and I would definitely do it again. Awesome day with fantastic memories that will last forever.
I absolutely loved the whole experience, even the scuba training was fun. Swimming so close though to sharks and stingrays was an unforgettable experience and one which I think everyone should do once in their life. Normally these experiences seem to be over in a flash but the actual dive lasted for a good 30 minutes which was more than ample time to view the whole tank and see all the marine life inside. Highly recommend it to everyone.
