Drive a challenging course with slopes, gullies and water splashes
Professional off road driving tuition is provided
Take home a commemorative certificate
Put those driving skills to the test with this challenging 4x4 taster session. Kick off with a welcome, introduction and safety briefing to prepare for the drive ahead. Then get behind the wheel of a 4x4 (usually a Land Rover Discovery) and try to negotiate the specially designed off road course. With steep slopes, deep gullies and water ditches, this is sure to put your driving skills to the ultimate test! Control is the key, so slowly does it! An instructor remains on hand to give those all-important pointers. Drive the 4x4 for 15 minutes before a presentation of a certificate as a special reminder of the day.
Runs around four times a month, and can be on a Saturday, Sunday, Wednesday or Thursday. The circuit is closed from early December to mid-January.
Maximum weight is 18 stone and maximum height is 6'6''. A full manual driving licence must be produced on the day to guarantee participation.
Driving might be cancelled or curtailed in extreme weather conditions (e.g. snow, ice, heavy rain or high winds) which would make driving dangerous. Please call the venue (Monday - Friday) if in any doubt.
Expect to be at the venue for up to an hour in total, including 15 minutes driving time. Please be aware that sessions start from 8am and sessions booked between 11am - 3pm incur a £10 charge. Please arrive a few minutes early to ensure a prompt start.
Numbers on the Day
All in-car tuition is on a one-to-one basis. Briefings are held in groups of up to 30 people.
Spectators are welcome and each one is entitled to a free 4x4 off road passenger ride. Other extra (chargeable) drives are available on the day, subject to availability.
Dress comfortably (and warmly in winter) with trousers, long sleeves and flat-soled shoes.
From 7.45am - 5.45pm a free minibus operates every 30 mins between Stafford train station and the Stafford Activity Centre. Participants who choose this greener way to travel receive a £10 voucher and spectators a £5 voucher to spend on-site.
