Learn to impress friends and family with salmon carving skills taught by an expert during this unique personalised carving masterclass for two. Head to one of the most highly established and world-renowned family salmon smokehouses. Voted the Best Unusual or Unique Venue at the London Venue Awards in 2015, this East London smokehouse is the perfect setting in which to learn to carve fresh, fine smoked Scottish salmon using skilled hand carving techniques taught by Guinness World Record-holder Darren Matson. Take home the side of smoked salmon you carved during the demonstration in sizes of your choosing, as well as a beautiful hardwood salmon carving board, a specialist Granton smoked salmon knife and a pair of salmon boning tweezers to share.
Each class is arranged on a one-to-one basis for a mutually suitable date.
Minimum age 16. Wheelchair users can be accomodated, please specify requirements at point of booking. All participants must sign a disclaimer form on the day.
The masterclass lasts for an hour but with on site Forman's Fish Island offering unrivalled views of the Olympic Stadium and Forman's London restaurant available Thursday - Sunday, you might want to stay on.
Numbers on the Day
This is a private experience for you both to enjoy with the carver.
Up to five spectators can enjoy watching the masterclass from inside the smokehouse or the viewing gallery.
The smokehouse is cold so warm clothes with long sleeves are recommended, along with closed toe shoes and no high heels (as there are steps down to the smokehouse). Compulsory safety wear is provided on arrival.
The delights of Forman's Fish Island venue and the on-site restaurant can be enjoyed from Thursday to Sunday evenings. Visit the on-site art gallery, have a drink and take in views from the roof terrace.
