Experience two incredible 60 second sessions of free flight
Visit a massive wind tunnel in Manchester
Try out different techniques with the help of an instructor
No need to jump out of a plane!
Step into the mighty wind tunnel for two incredible 60 second aerobatic sessions of body flying. With speeds of 120 mph, the wind tunnel offers a feeling akin to freefall without actually having to plummet from the skies. Start off with a full health and safety briefing, before kitting up in a specialist flight suit in preparation. Then ascend upwards on the airflow to experience the amazing sensation of freefall (as a comparison, during a skydive from 10,000 feet, freefall lasts around 30 seconds). Some lucky people will even get to witness their instructor cut some impressive aerial shapes on the airflow.
At least one weekday and one weekend date every month throughout the year. The centre is closed on Christmas Day but operates on bank holidays.
Minimum age is four. Under 18's must be accompanied by an adult. Maximum weight 18 stone. Anyone who's reasonably fit, can fly. If you're pregnant, have heart, back or neck problems or have ever dislocated a shoulder, you can't fly.
The tunnel is indoors and isn't affected by the weather.
Expect to be on-site for around one and a half hours, including a 20 minute safety briefing, kit issue (15 minutes), two 60 second body flying sessions each and a full debrief.
Numbers on the Day
Training may be shared in a group of up to 12. All flights are held on a one-to-one basis in the wind tunnel with a fully qualified instructor - you won't jump together, but will watch each other's flights from the gallery.
Spectators are welcome and can watch the all action from the free viewing gallery. Facilities at the venue are excellent and make for a good family visit.
No jewellery or collared shirts. Please wear tight-fitting lace-up trainers (not boots). If you don't wear suitable footwear you'll be required to hire and wear trainers. Jumpsuit and other equipment is provided. Lockers £1.
It is vital to arrive no later than the allocated time on your booking letter. Actual flights occur up to one hour after the allocated booked time to allow for an essential safety briefing before stepping into the tunnel.
