Step aboard a Cathedrals Express carriage hauled by a vintage steam locomotive, for a truly nostalgic excursion, from departure points across the South, the Midlands and London. After a champagne breakfast or brunch en route, visit one of England's picturesque cathedral cities, choosing from Bath, Bristol, Oxford, Canterbury, Lincoln, York, Salisbury, Carlisle, Ely, Exeter, Bournemouth, Litchfield, Shrewsbury or Weymouth. On arrival, take a few hours free time to shop or explore the city. Afterwards, re-board the carriage and enjoy a delicious four-course dinner on board as the magnificent steam engine roars into life for the journey home. There's no finer way to travel and this experience makes a perfect romantic gift for a loved one, share it together.
Trips run periodically from February and become more regular in March once the weather becomes warmer - please check latest availability with the supplier. In particularly dry conditions, trips may not run due to risk of fire. Excludes November and December.
Minimum age is 16. Smoking is not permitted on board. Only folding wheelchairs can be stored on board. Passengers must be able to walk to their seat but can be aided by staff. Please state mobility needs when booking.
The weather should not affect the experience, however please note that the train runs on the public rail network and is subject to any imposed delays.
Trips can last from 8am to 11.30pm, depending on the destination. The tickets, final timings and a full itinerary is sent several days prior to the departure date.
Numbers on the Day
Up to 64 passengers travel in the carriage, seated on tables of four. All seating is allocated subject to availability on the day by the supplier and cannot be guaranteed.
