A Cathedrals Express carriage pulled by an amazing steam locomotive is a treat very much like stepping back in time. A range of round trips are available from departure points across the South, the Midlands and London and each run at least once or twice a year to cities such as Bath, Bristol, Oxford, Canterbury, Lincoln, York, Salisbury, Carlisle, Ely, Exeter, Bournemouth, Litchfield, Shrewsbury or Weymouth. On arrival in any of these great destinations, spend a few hours browsing, sightseeing or shopping. Later, head back to the train, re-board the carriage and let the steam engine lead you comfortably home on the return journey, making a perfect end to a vintage day out.
Trips run periodically from February and become more regular in March once the weather becomes warmer - please check latest availability with the supplier. In particularly dry conditions, trips may not run due to risk of fire. Excludes November and December.
Minimum age is 16. Smoking is not permitted on board. Only folding wheelchairs can be stored on board. Passengers must be able to walk to their seat but can be aided by staff. Please state mobility needs when booking.
The weather should not affect the experience, however please note that the train runs on the public rail network and is subject to any imposed delays.
Trips can last from 8am to 11.30pm, depending on the destination. The ticket, final timings and a full itinerary is sent several days prior to the departure date.
