    Whether looking to change a style or find perfect new season pieces, this is the ideal experience for anyone who loves fashion. Enjoy £225 to spend in-store, with the help of an experienced John Lewis Fashion Advisor, who'll talk through the latest trends, accessories and beauty products. Begin with a private consultation, relaxing over tea or coffee and a pastry and discuss ideas with the advisor. Then head out to John Lewis's fabulous fashion and beauty departments or, if preferable, relax in a suite and the advisor will select a range of items to browse in private. A mini-makeover with a make-up artist as well as 30 minute introductory Tri-Active facial at the Skin Spa is included. Take home a Clarins goody bag.

    Book during standard store opening times (usually seven days a week). Opening hours vary and not all stores take appointments on Sundays. We recommend at least six weeks advance notice and no bookings are taken two weeks before and a week after xmas.

    Participant Guidelines

    Personal styling services are available in all John Lewis shops with womenswear departments. Minimum age is 16. Please check location as to which stores are able to cater for plus sizes.


    Usually lasts two to three hours, depending on requirements.

    It is not possible to bring people along to the consultation, although friends are welcome in the store afterwards.

    I was a little apprehensive at first as I didn't really think it was something that I would enjoy. Sarah Jane was like having a friend shopping who tells you when something looks great and when it doesn't. She also gave me some great general tips. Minal who gave me my make over also looked after me very well.

    My daughter & I received the shopping experience as a gift, Joanne could not have been nicer or more helpful, going the extra mile & also included my two & half year old granddaughter in the experience too (she got the cutest dress), We were unable to make it back to the shop later in the day (please pass on our apologies, my phone ran out of power & was unable to call & inform them)... We had a fantastic time & went away with items we would not have normally chosen but we are absolutely delighted with. Thank you Joanne, you're a star!!!

    A lovely afternoon spent at Bluewater. Sarah was superb. I had my mum with me and that was no problem at all. She brought tea for both of us and was very welcoming even though I was her 3rd appointment of the day. She brought brands I wouldn't have tried before, colours I loved and nothing was too much trouble. I ended up spending much more but it was worth it for the gorgeous clothes she brought me. The makeover at Bobbi Brown was lovely and my skin looked better than it had for years. I highly recommend this Red Letter Day, John Lewis at Bluewater and Sarah in particular.

    This was just what I needed. I find myself in my mid 50's with a wardrobe of very safe clothes,if it's not black,white or blue then I don't think it will suit me. I tried clothes that i would never have looked twice at,it was a real confidence boost. Hollie put a nervous shopper at ease and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I then had a skincare makeover which was really relaxing and informative. I certainly would highly recommend the experience as a gift or a treat to yourself

    Had a fantastic day, was extremely well looked after in the Manchester John Lewis store! Everything was brilliant from the personal shopper helping me put outfits together to the make up lesson.. As this was a present to me I thoroughly enjoyed it and would buy this for a friend in future! Thanks for a great day!

    I went with an open mind and let the Stylist choose some outfits after understanding my lifestyle. Tried items I would never have considered before and loved them. Of course, I spent more than the £225 but you don't have to, there was no pressure. The mini- makeover was great too. Fully recommend, I will be back for more.

    Had a great day at John lewis, made to feel really comfortable and welcoming. Annie the personal assistant was Fantastic really couldn't fault her. Makeup by bobbi brown amazing. Would definitely recommend this day.

    Warmly met by Kelsey in John Lewis, Cardiff. Discussed fashion preferences, Kelsey immediately understood what I was looking for and provided a range of garments all well within my requirements. All this taking place in relaxing and comfortable surroundings. There was no rushing and plenty of time given for trying on and choosing my purchases. A day I well recommend and would enjoy the experience of again.

    What a fantastic day I had at John Lewis Norwich. The ladies who assisted me were brilliant and nothing was to much trouble. Had a lovely facial by Louise at the declecor counter which was so relaxing I could have slept all afternoon. This was a really first class day.

    Ive had this experience before and had a great time shopping - This time I didn't want the personal styling as Ive gained some weight and wanting to loose it I didn't want to purchase clothes - just make up and perfume.
    I phoned the store ahead of going and was told this was absolutely fine and just go to customer services and they would help me. I went along and 2 people tried to help me for half an hour but clearly had no idea of what they were doing , 1 also questioned saying was I totally sure the code hadn't been already used - I almost left at this point. It finally got sorted and a lovely shop was had however I was mis quoted prices ( something that has happened a few times in john lewis recently) and 1 item that I was told was 1 price was actually £20 more. This could be an embarrassing situation for some. All in all quite put me off John Lewis all together. The red let part of the experience was flawless.

    Was quite tricky to book, got passed around several different departments before having to contact the store directly, then on arrival they didn't have me in their system (possibly due to the difficulty booking?)
    Shopping experience itself was ok, my shopper just brought mainly things I'd told her I wanted,as opposed to suggesting new looks which I thought was the point. Makeover was good though, and i used the tea for two voucher on a different occasion as I wasn't allowed anyone with me ( which was also a bit of a complaint - if you wanted to bring a friend they had to pay, when I'm sure having a companion there would have made it more enjoyable and they be bound to buy something anyway...)

    I really struggled to find anything I would want to buy or wear. Very small ladieswear department at West Quay. I went to look around prior to the appointment and was so disappointed I wished I'd have cancelled. There was literally so little choice of clothes - perhaps there are more choices of brands in larger stores. I ended up just asking to go by myself and spend it all on the make up counter at Chanel. So no personal shopping (no amount of persuasion would have made me spend money on any of the clothes there) no makeover (this was already booked for me at Bobbi Brown for two hours later but I just wanted to get out of there) and I was given a voucher to go and have a cup of tea at the cafe - which I didn't use. No goody bag either and had to wait 20 minutes at the end as nobody knew how to put the purchases through the till. Luckily the Chanel girls (especially Rose) were so lovely that they made me feel a bit better about the day and helped me make my choices to spend my voucher amount. Went home and lied to my hubby and said it was great :( I could have cried.

    Laura was great made me feel so comfortable and special. The whole experience was about what I wanted and what made me happy. Tara was friendly and gave great advice on skin care but no pressure selling. Really enjoyed myself.

    Other reviewers had commented that they were encouraged to try on things that they wouldn't usually consider and this appealed to me. The experience was great as I'd had my make up done before the clothes session so could get a feel for what I'd look like on a night out. All John Lewis staff were excellent; very friendly and helpful. I came away with items that suit me (make up and clothes) most of which I wouldn't have picked myself. You're made to feel special and I would recommend this experience. I did however, end up spending more than the £225 as it's hard to leave behind items that suit you.

    I enjoyed a couple of hours shopping and trying on new clothes with a lovely fashion advisor who encouraged me to look at some new styles and found coordinating clothes for me. Next I had a pot of tea and flapjack before being shown around the Beauty Retreat and finally having a make-over at the Chanel counter.The make up stylist spent a lot of time telling me about the products she was using.
