You'll drive a Land Rover Defender, Discovery or Range Rover Sport
Tackle a range of different surfaces in stunning surroundings
At least 30 to 40 minutes driving time
With a spirit of adventure at the core of its character, the great outdoors has always been the territory of the Land Rover brand. On this experience you'll tackle some challenging terrain in one of the following king of the road vehicles - a Land Rover Defender, a Discovery or a Range Rover Sport. You'll start with a thorough safety briefing (and tea and coffee is provided at most venues too) before your instructor shows you around your vehicle, explaining the impressive capabilities of these 4x4s. Then get behind the wheel yourself to conquer the muddy climbs, drops and hazards of an exhilarating off road course, in stunning surroundings. Most venues have excellent facilities, including disabled access, catering, toilets, shelter and parking.
Runs mostly on selected Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday dates once a month throughout the year (depending on venue, please check). We recommend you give several weeks advance notice for the most popular weekend dates.
Minimum age varies from 17 to 23, depending on venue. You must hold a full manual driving licence; bring it with you. Some venues specify that you must have held your licence for at least two years, some also specify a maximum of six penalty points.
Driving may be cancelled or curtailed in extreme weather (like flooding or high winds) which makes off road driving dangerous. Wet weather often makes the best 4x4 driving conditions. Please call the venue if in any doubt.
Your experience will last for around three hours, including a minimum of 30 to 40 minutes driving time.
Numbers on the Day
You'll share your session and Land or Range Rover with two other participants, taking turns to drive. Your instructor will be in the vehicle at all times.
Spectators are tricky to accommodate because this experience is so off road, but guests are welcome to come along, wait and use the on-site facilities where they exist (please check when booking).
Dress for the outdoors, with stout footwear and a waterproof jacket.
All these venues are British Off Road Driving Association members with the majority of instructors specially trained by Land Rover. They'll do their best to get you behind the wheel of your preferred model, subject to availability.
