Good hotel good location
Enjoyed a lovely break, fantastic food, lovely staff, would visit again. On our way to Beamish we enjoyed a visit to The Bowes Museum, Barnard Castle, which we would recommend
To summarise we didn't get much of a warm welcome. Our room was in the most bizzarre random barn conversion with no roof. It was dirty, stains on the carpets, bed clothes - throw, pillow and duvet cover (looked like make up stains) it was half painted and then given up as a bad job. Door handles missing from furniture. The 'spa' was dirty, half of the lockers didn't work, the walls were covered in damp and dirt. The meal wasn't great. Steak was fatty and chewy and all the way through our 'fine cuisine' meal was a radio playing what can only be described as gangster rap!! Breakfast buffet wasn't replenished well and the food was obviously cooked that morning then warmed up - bacon was like cardboard. Won't be recommending it and won't be going back. Such a shame as this was a wedding present and the people buying it will no doubt have spent good money on this!
Beautiful surroundings and comfortable stay ,easy reach to town centre ,staff very friendly and helpful would recommend hotel to friends ,food excellent
We would recommend anyone to try this experience. It was everything and more. The food was brilliant, room very clean and comfortable.Staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We shall be visiting again.
From picking the phone up to book this treat to checking out everything was superb, fantastic experience with really friendly helpful and professional staff. The accommodation was wonderful and me and my wife had a really great weekend, we will be back!
Lovely hotel. Beautiful setting. Evening food delicious and large portions. Only let down was breakfast- cold breakfast and pastries ok. Hot breakfast luke warm and not great quality. Swimming pool lovely to relax by.
OK but allocated to wrong room initially, very hot in room and difficult to turn radiator down.Facilities clean and good to have tea making equipment.Spa facilities welcomed.
Good food but you said we could have a 3 course meal when in fact you got £22.00 per person and we had to put the extra 2 it which we didn't mind but would of like 2 know before hand.
This is a lovely old building set in beautiful grounds, strangely it's next door to a large open prison.
Our room was nice but a bit tired in some areas. However very clean with a great view over the parklands. Nice big comfy bed. Welcome basket nice touch.
Meals were ok. Not as good I expected. But service was very good.
We would visit again
A lovely hotel set in a stunning location. The room was spotlessly clean and the bed a very comfortable queen size. Dinner and breakfast offered plenty of choice and were both delicious and served with a smile. Reception was welcoming and friendly. Wifi not great, but that's the Forest for you! Overall excellent experience.
The hotel has been decorated with great taste and looks as if it's just been done.A nice view across the Severn Vale.Very convienient for Gloucester, Bristol and we went and toured the
We had a lovely long weekend break at Best Western York House Eastbourne. Room was exceptional queen size bed and sea view, décor was very well thought out. All together first class in Room 304.
Lovely hotel in beautiful surroundings with friendly staff
We spent one night at Heacham manor as a red letter day gift for my husbands 60th birthday. We had a deluxe room which was very comfortable with bath, shower and Gilchrist & Soames toiletries and tea coffee and bottled water provided. The 2 course meal was enjoyable. My husband had a spicy Asian broth and ribeye steak with peppercorn sauce mashed potatoes and broccoli. His steak was not to his liking and was changed for a sirloin which was very good. I had poached pear in red wine and goats cheese which was delicious. Breakfast was also very good with some unusual cooked to order items. We had 3egg omelette with smoked haddock cheese and spinach. The service is very good and we both enjoyed a relaxing break. There was a problem with the WIFI when we were there which the lady at reception apologised for.
this place is exactly as described with the bonus of very pleasant and efficient staff.
We would stay here again.
Hotel was not the best. Service in restaurant especially at breakfast was poor. Evening meal was poor - we were refunded for a main meal and desserts as it was not cooked right and the food took ages to come. Only praise to give was to the lady in charge of restaurant -she was doing her best to keep on top of everything whilst her 'team' looked half asleep. Would not go here again and it has put me off the Mercure brand
Bedroom was a disgrace with wallpaper peeling off the wall and ceiling and peeling paint. The extractor fan in the shower room was not working and the toilet did not flush reliably.
Nice room and great food. Really enjoyed the stay
We would throughly recommend The Hempstead House Hotel. The staff could not have made us feel more welcome and when we informed them it was a belated 25th wedding anniversary they placed table confetti with Happy Anniversary and when our desserts arrived they had piped Happy Anniversary on both our dessert plates in chocolate sauce. The room was very elegant and excellently laid out the bed very comfortable. The attention to detail was wonderful and the hotels surroundings were wonderful. We can't wait to go back again and we are going to start saving for next year to visit longer and to enable us to use their spa facilities. Many thanks again to Hempstead House Hotel.
