Overview
Gliding is a majestic way for people to be airborne. It's a breathtaking way to fly, soaring on the same rising currents of air that the birds use, with no roaring engine to spoil the peace. Begin the experience with a full flight briefing, before stepping aboard a dual-controlled glider with an experienced pilot. A light aircraft tows the glider into the air and once at the appropriate altitude (approximately 3,000 feet) the rope is released, allowing the glider to gently move in the thermal currents. Take in stunning views of the countryside and during the flight (at the discretion of the pilot), take charge of the controls to take over the piloting duties.

This voucher is valid for one person. Available on selected weekends, year round. We recommend allowing several weeks advance booking notice, even earlier during summer. Flights are usually less frequent during winter. All dates are subject to availability. - Participant Guidelines
There is no formal minimum age, however anyone under 16 must be accompanied by either a parent or guardian whilst at the airfield. Maximum height: 6'4''. Maximum weight: 16 stone. Not suitable for anyone who suffers from epilepsy, fainting or certain other physical or mental disabilities – please check when booking. - Weather
Gliding is weather dependent. It is crucial to call the venue between 10am to 10.15am for a weather check before setting out. If the flight is cancelled due to the weather, it will be re-booked for an alternative date or time. - Duration
The length of glider flights depends entirely on the prevailing thermals (currents of warmer air that provide the lift). As a guide, the aerotow flight should last for between 20–30 minutes. - Numbers on the Day
Briefings may be shared and the flight will be held on a one-to-one basis with the instructor. - Dress Code
Wear flat-soled shoes and bring a jumper in case it gets cold at higher altitudes. Bring gloves in winter and sunblock and a hat in summer. Sunglasses are recommended all year round. - Other Info
All our vouchers are fully flexible and can be redeemed against our huge range of experiences. The venue operates as a non-profit-making club and visitors may be asked to help others launch and retrieve their gliders while waiting for their turn to glide. Spectators are welcome. A camera or a pair of binoculars will come in handy.
