  • About

You can't beat driving around in military vehicles and a spot of clay-pigeon shooting, so enjoy all the fun of being a soldier with none of the risks and get a tasty lunch included. You'll be kitted out in a camouflage suit and helmet and given a full safety briefing when you arrive. You'll drive a Russian Grozdilka tank, a fully amphibious Hagglund tracked carrier, an FV 432 armoured personnel carrier and a Rapier rocket carrier. The best driver will get to crush a car with a 56 ton Chieftain tank at the end of the day! You'll also get a ride in a Lance missile carrier, spend an hour in the armoury, learn how to fire a range of classic weapons like mortars and muskets and go on an SAS woodland patrol.

    • Drive a range of classic military vehicles if you think you're hard
    • Including Fire muskets and mortars, and go on an SAS patrol
    • Best driver of the day crushes a car with a Chieftain tank

    A Lifetime Goal Achieved

This has to be one of the best ways to spend a day! Expert, friendly tuition before trying everything from a musket to a Russian self-propelled gun - this one is a brute, but hugely exciting. Nick and the boys share their passion for these big boys toys, adding many anecdotes along the way. I cannot recommend this event highly enough - it was brilliant!

This was a great day with lots of activities that kept us entertained throughout. From the moment that we arrived at the front gate to be met by an armed guard to the cheery farewells at the end of the day all of the staff went out of their way to make the day special. The Russian Grozdilka was the best vehicle and my wife (who was a spectator) got to ride on it whilst I was driving. I have some great photos and memories of the day.

Had this has a gift for my 40th and what a fantastic day out, every big kids dream to drive armoured vehicles, shoot guns and generally have a great day out. The whole experience from start to finish was superbly organised - even had a text the day before to wish me well to enjoy my day. The guys at Tanks-a-lot run a superb day and i took my partner with me has a spectator and they got to do loads of stuff too. The guys were very knowledgable about what they do and everyone gets involved. The lunchtime meal was superb - i was expecting a sandwich but there was a full spread on from, chicken curry, ribs, salad, lasagne, veggie option too and even got a choice of cake thrown in for good measure and always plenty of tea, coffee and juice on hand throughout. All in all it was a fantastic day out and experience, well worth the money and having to get up at 5.00am.

Really great day for all the family. Guests of the driver were able to participate in most things and watch all the action first hand. The kind people at Tank A Lot were most considerate to all the participants' needs. A great day was had.

A great deal of fun was had and a lot learnt. I'm pleased to say that if I ever find myself clinging to a rock in some fast flowing water and someone throws me a rope, I can now tie it around my waist with one hand! And the driving was great fun as well.

    Brilliant Action Packed Day

My sons had the most brilliant day - driving tanks & armoured vehicles, running around in their camouflage suits & war paint firing weapons and learning survival skills. They were on the winning team and so crushed the car at the end - a fantastic end to a perfect day. Lots of memories for them both. The staff were extremely knowledgeable and friendly and the food was great. Would recommend this day out to anyone.

    Excellent Fun

Plenty to keep you occupied for the full 9 hours. Instructors knowledgable and helpful, making sure that you enjoy the day. From start to finish, the emphasis is on the customer, from kitting you out to making you aware of safety issues, to including spectators in the experience. The variety of activities ensures that you don't get bored, and where else are you going to get access to the variety of vehicles to drive? Managing to drive a tank smoothly is definately a skill, but even if you don't get to crush the car at the end of the day, you are still going to have a great day!

Great day, well planned so everyone could enjoy it at whatever level. Staff and instructors are committed to Tanks a Lot and to ensuring everyone has a good time. Plenty of equipment so there was minimum waiting between 'goes', and spectators were involved as much as possible.

Fabulous Day. Even Organised Good Weather.

Bought for my other half for his 50th birthday (he's all into guns and tanks etc...). It was incredibly well organised and he got to do absolutely everything, I as a spectator travelled everywhere with him and got to watch and also participate in some of the events. The lunch was good and there was an unlimited assortment of beverages available all day. Well worth the money.

    A Day To Remember

    Robert W, 26 Jun 2010

A truly memorable day from the moment we arrived at 8.30 am until our departure at 6.30pm. The day was both informal and run with 'military precision'. All of the experiences were new to me and I found them all extremely enjoyable, exciting and challenging from the survival training to clay pigeon shooting and tank driving. A great part of the day was the camaraderie of all of the participants and those running the various courses. An unexpected bonus was the involvement of the spectators who were able to observe and, in some cases, participate in some of the activities. Food was very good and there was a constant supply of bottled water available. Couldn't fault the day - terrific.

My wife bought me this for my birthday last year - got covered in mud, cold, wet and enjoyed every minute of it. Well organised and every boy's dream - even though I got beaten by a girl!

When else would you get a chance to drive these beasts of machines. I thought that the day was organised very professionally, the staff very friendly, encouraging and approachable. Everything about the day was spot on, including the talks on weapons and the SAS. The fact that my guest was also able to join in with some of the activities was excellent, and I know she had a great time as well. I will be telling all my friends and recommend they participate in what I reckon was one of the best days out I've had.

    Great Day Out

Loads of different experiences, you will be split into groups, and everyone gets to try everything. 4 different driving experiences. Lunch was good, as were facilities. Spectators always well catered for. Friendly and patient staff.

I Wanted To Stay Behind The Tank Levers All Day

    Sean D, 25 Apr 2009

A very enjoyable day with very friendly staff, who as well as having fun were very informative and respectful about the equipment they were handling, and the history and potential of what it is capable of. My girlfriend thoroughly enjoyed her day joining in with the activities and talks. A great day, which before it started I thought was expensive, but after an action packed day with a fantastic home cooked dinner in the mess I felt it was great value for money and not short changed. I'm recommending this day to any prospective Tankies I know.
