Afternoon tea is an English institution and Alexander House provides a most fitting setting in which to relax and indulge in this rather refreshing tradition. Take a seat in one of Alexander House's extravagant lounges (or sit outside on the terrace in fine weather) and treat yourselves to a fresh spread of homemade scones with jam and clotted cream, a selection of tasty sandwiches, home baked pastries, farmhouse cakes and last but certainly not least, a choice of refreshing loose leaf teas from around the world. Monday to Thursday between 1pm-5pm, excluding Christmas, New Year's Eve, Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Easter Sunday and school holidays. Weekend bookings are subject to availability and a supplementary fee of £3. - Participant Guidelines

The hotel is lovely, very comfortable. The food was nice, the sandwiches were the best. Very filling but a bit too much sweet stuff for me. Prefer more savoury than sweet and some places have this as an option or check if you would like more sandwiches.

Lovely setting, we were very fortunate to have had good weather and a table outside in the gardens. That said, the hotel and its facilities are excellent, the welcome and service received was warm and friendly, the tea/food was really good too. Overall a very pleasant experience.

Set in beautiful mid Sussex countryside this is an idyllic place. The service was excellent and the Tea scrumptious! Yum.

Didn’t feel very welcome, we weren’t sat a proper table so husband had to sit with legs wide throughout, the food was nice but spoilt by fact that we were in a room where the smoke from reception fire was coming in, which made it unpleasant. The staff even hung our coats up by the smoking fire and when I mentioned it, didn’t care, they just said sometimes it is smoky!!
