Nostalgic memories of the return to the steam train era. A lovely day out and plenty to enjoy

Was a Xmas gift from our children..Weather was perfect and the whole experience was so enjoyable.Food wad delicious and the staff were so helpful..

The experience was amazing. We were warmly welcomed by the staff and instructor, Pete, who was friendly and knowledgable throughout showing my husband what to do to operate the train. The experience was the highlight of our trip to Nottinghamshire and can't recommend it enough.

What a great day! Bought as a birthday present for me, my wife and I went down to the railway. We spent time looking around the Railway - some really awesome nostalgia (weirdly loved the telephone box) and of course the locomotives. Amazing. The tea and journey on the train was top notch! A great end to a great day. Thoroughly recommend as a day out. (Plant based option was available without cream).

A very enjoyable day out in a lovely countryside setting with helpful and friendly volunteers and a high quality cream tea.

Would highly recommend a visit to the East Somerset Railway. More than just a great trip on a real steam train, it's a terrific little museum preserving history. And a fab cafe and shop!

We met as part of a group of seven and, after coffee, we were given a tour of the locomotive shed, the carriage works and a signal box. After a provided lunch in the restaurant we had a return ride of the full length on the line, followed by a tour of the museum. Our guide was very knowledgeable without being overpowering and the whole day moved along very smoothly.

Everything possible they seem to have there, including incredible food! Lovely cake especially, good train rides and everything very informative. There is so much to see you will not get bored.

Staff were amazing and very polite and very helpful. I made a last minute booking which was honoured (thank you for that!). Paddington bear was there for photos and there was task for the kids to collect 6 different stamps and postcards around the site got you a marmalade sandwich! It was a brilliant day and brilliant experience. One steam train was running and on the other line was a diesel. Food was nice and staff very friendly in the cafe as well. It was superb. Good grass area with a little wooden train for kids to play. War Bunker was interesting. Great for train enthusiasts and lots to see and look at or photo. We’ve been 3 times, two of which have been red letter day vouchers.
