The gift was given to me by my son for my 80th birthday. Due to covid I couldn't the year it was given. However I fiinally booked it this year on my mother's birthday. I had never been.to Haughton Hall before,but I must say the staff that we meet were very helpful and friendly. We were offered tea or coffee as we were shown to our table. There was a good choice of sandwiches and as I had told them I was vegetarian they had separated mine. The cakes and small tortes were delicious. Nicely followed by scones, jam and clotted cream. Champagne was served midway through our meal. Then we were served chocolate fondue with pineapple, bananas and marshmallows. As the marshmallows were not vegetarian I was offered strawberries a very good alternative. While looking out of the window I noticed a beautiful tree with red plumes of flowers. I asked the lady who was serving us what tree it was....she didnt know, but went out took a photo and looked it up. It turns out it was a Horsechestnut tree. How lovely was that for her to take time out and tell me. It all helpecto make it a lovely afternoon.

We were really disappointed with the whole experience, the food and drink were very average, the service was poor. We were also surprised that there were Spa guests in the restaurant in dressing gowns. We have had much better at other locations. Would not recommend it.
