Afternoon Tea in Hertfordshire

I was in two minds about booking this for my mother having read some of the reviews. However I'm so glad I did. The owner and her cousin were so friendly, helpful and welcoming. The scones were home made and absolutely delicious, with plenty of cream and ham. The tour was about 1.5 to 1.75 hours, there were plenty of places for my mother sit on the way around. John was very knowledgeable and engaging. We both had aively time, thank you.

Welcomed and given the alternatives available on the Red Letter Voucher. Four Starters to choose from and several mains. Each was described by staff and selection made. Service was excellent and food served served fairly quickly. Great flavours and plenty of it. Will certainly put this restaurant on the list to visit again.

When we arrived we were greeted by very friendly staff who were very helpful and took us to the restaurant. It was delightfully decorated and we were quickly taken to our table. We had made a couple of requests regarding what we wanted and these were immediately mentioned and assured were being followed. A glass of champagne each was poured and we toasted the occasion. The sandwiches were very nice with different tasty breads for each sandwich. The scones were nice and freshly made. The cakes were great although by this time we were too full to eat them and so they were neatly packed in a box for us to take home. We enjoyed them the following evening and they were scrumptious. All I can add is that Sopwell House is a lovely place, our experience couldn't have been better, a big thankyou to all the staff who helped make the day special.

Lovely afternoon tea and tea unlimited which is a must when having afternoon tea! It was nice not to have to book just turn up with voucher so no faffing!

“We visited Pembroke Castle pub in Primrose Hill for afternoon tea on Sunday, and it was simply outstanding. The pub looked beautiful, fully decorated for Christmas, and our reserved table made it feel extra special. We were upgraded to the Festive Afternoon Tea, which went far beyond expectations. A huge two tier stand arrived, packed with savoury treats — open turkey and chicken breast sandwiches, turkey, brie and cranberry, pigs in blankets, and enormous sausage rolls. On top of all that, they then brought out 2 plates of sweets which was just as impressive, with rich chocolate torte, brownies, and giant scones served with jam and cream. To top it off, we enjoyed two glasses of perfectly chilled prosecco each. The amount of food for two was unbelievable, and every bite was excellent. Special mention to Anita, who looked after us royally and made the whole experience even better. It was the best afternoon tea we’ve ever had, and I can’t recommend it enough. Already looking forward to returning next year to try the summer version!”
