A very bland experience
The positives: we were allowed to swap our drink if we wanted. The waiters were friendly. The lamb starter was very tasty. The negatives: it went very downhill after the starters… the chicken tikka masala was one of the worst I’ve had. It just wasn’t great, that’s all I can say. My partner is veggie and had the paneer, which literally tasted of nothing and baffled us both. We then had to wait about 20 minutes for desserts, only for the SAME WAITER to hand us menus again as if we’d just walked in?! It wasn’t even that busy, I don’t know how a mistake like that was made. The desserts were terrible. The chocolate was a horrible consistency, as was the “creme brûlée”, which was extremely tart and was just a creamy mess. I think they seriously need to up their game if they want to compete with other great options in Amersham. As far as Indians go, this was one of the worst I’ve ever had. Sorry.

Excellent gift
After our original “gift” location stopped Red Letter Days we switched to Hawkyns as an alternative - we are highly delighted that we did. Service and the whole meal were excellent. We paid the £12 per person extra for the beef and whilst we felt the extra was excessive both agreed that it was really enjoyable. Presentation of the dishes was spot on. To charge £13.40 for a glass of Malbec is excessive. Thoroughly recommend for the food quality & flavours.
