Short Breaks in Devon

Had a great couple of days here. Very clean & tidy. Staff friendly & helpful. Really good breakfast cooked to order.

We were greeted warmly & shown to our room. Two flights of steep steps, not good but the manager saw my wife struggle with the climb & very kindly reallocated a room on the first floor. Excellent staff with a warm approach to guests. Breakfast - spot on to set you up for the day but do try a steak in the evening - fantastic.

Amazing experience from entering the stunning hotel. The staff seated us in the sumptuous afternoon tea room where piano music softly filled the air. The waiter poured our Lanson brüt champagne, talked us through the menu and explained the variety of teas to complement our food. We chose the afternoon tea blend to drink with our sandwich selection and then the rose blend to drink with our desserts. The sandwich selection was a delicious variety of egg mayonnaise with truffle, salt beef with mustard, coronation chicken, barber cheese and tomato (my personal favourite), and smoked salmon with cream cheese. They were all sandwiched in a variety of delicious breads. Plain and fruit scones were served with clotted cream and we tried them with both the strawberry jam and lemon curd which is something we hadn’t tried before. Again it was delicious. We couldn’t have managed the whole selection of desserts which were miniature works of art so we cut them in half and shared them. There was a chocolate brownie, lemon and blueberry tart, strawberry mousse, and vanilla and pistachio sponge. All were light but full of delicious flavours and marvellously created. We had the leftovers boxed to take home. The waiter also surprised my daughter with a celebratory slice of stunning coffee flavoured birthday cake which made our day even more special. Reuben’s is definitely a place to choose for a special occasion and I would highly recommend it.

With a range of locations and hotels to chose from, we opted for the Talbot Hotel in the lovely market town of Ledbury. The Talbot like many of the building in the town is a picturesque timber framed building bursting witj character. Our room was a good size and very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent and the staff were very friendly, making us feel welcome from the moment we stepped through the door. Would definitely recommend this for an overnight break.

Lovely relaxing atmosphere. Greeted with a roaring wood fire making the wet weather tolerable. Check in was seamless and the bar and restaurant very welcoming. Food was superb and staff polite, cheerful and helpful. Big bonus being dog friendly, they were accepted everywhere except the restaurant which was understandable. No problem we ate in the bar and as all the other guests did too it made for a really warm and friendly atmosphere. First visit here and it will definitely not be our last.

We were blessed with good weather and an amazing display of colour. We loved every square inch of the place. Every corner turned was met with a "wow!". Truly beautiful. They are gearing up to an exhibition of works by Henry Moore and many were already on display in the gardens. Loved it!

Hotel was friendly and comfortable. The location in Haverfordwest was perfect very beautiful location. I would recommend in a heartbeat thanks.

Me and my partner stayed in a pod and we were amazed by how nice it was. There is a lovely river as you look out the door and was very quiet and relaxing. The toilet/shower facilities were spotless. Loads to do in the area. .
