What could be more quintessentially British than a delicious afternoon tea served in charming surroundings? Give in to tea and cake cravings at one of a range of hand-picked venues, including charming hotel restaurants and lounges. What's included will vary according to the location chosen - for example be served a traditional English cream tea, a tea with finger sandwiches and homemade cakes, fancy pastries and champagne, or cakes and cocktails, and some venues offer the experience for more than two people. Whichever it is, find the perfect spot to relax on any occasion from Mother's Day to 40th birthday celebrations, and indulge and while away an afternoon. Tuck in!
Bookings are offered seven days a week at most venues (bear in mind that hotel venues can be much busier during summer months).
Everyone is welcome, but at least one guest must be an adult (18 or over).
Tea is served in the afternoon, usually between 11am and 6pm.
The majority of venues offer this experience for two people, although there are options included within our range for three and for four.
Most hotels request smart casual dress.
A very pleasant location.
Food and service very good
Very pleasant day
We arrived at Greenwoods and were shown to our table in a lovely lounge area. The decor is beautiful and you feel as though you are somewhere special.
I had the traditional afternoon tea which was delicious. Unfortunately my friend had pre-ordered gluten free which was very disappointing. Her sandwiches were great big chunks of bread which were rock hard. She ate the filling and left the bread.
The staff were quite attentive so when the waiter came over to enquire if everything was ok she explained that the bread was horrible and there were much better gluten free bread options available on the market. He didn't seem too bothered by her comment, and she wished she had actually asked him to eat it himself, so he knew what he was serving.
I would return here again but definitely not for the gluten free option!!
There were 6 in our party celebrating a birthday, we were not rushed & spent 2 hours enjoying an excellent & varied spread. There is a large car park at the rear, which we had problems finding as there is no access from the front.
Wow lovley service very helpfull friendly staff cattered for one of us being wheat and gluten free with no fuss. Great food lovley hotel thank you hope to come again soon
The surroundings were beautiful on a lovely sunny, warm afternoon. Apart from the welshcakes the food was lovely, the best scones ever! One improvement would be China cups for the tea. Our waitress was lovely but we couldn't find her to thank her when we were leaving, the young man at reception was also very welcoming.
We arrived a little early but this was not a problem. Lovely room. Excellent staff and the tea was outstanding. Lots to eat. Excellent choice of sandwiches. I could have coffee instead of tea. Brilliant.
We had a lovely afternoon in Chilham. It was a beautiful autumnal day and the tea was splendid - sandwiches, scones, jam, cream and cakes. We started with hearty appetites, but flagged well before the end as the portions were so generous. Highly recommended.
Lovely building, but the experience was very poor value. Scones were excellent, sandwiches fresh but with little filling. We were not offered a choice of different teas (as advertised) and the cakes were so sickly sweet that even my sweet tooth was unable to eat them.
The hotel and surrounds are second to none, with beautiful scenery and plenty of parking, plus it is very easy to get to.
We enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea at Charingworth Manor, a beautiful old Cotswold Manor House in a wonderful setting. The service was excellent, friendly and efficient. The food was great- a choice of sandwiches, teas, coffee, 3 different cakes and 2 scones with jam and cream! A perfect tea on a beautiful September afternoon. We even looked at options to return for a lunch or overnight stay!
Wivenhoe House is a fantastic venue in a beautiful setting
Picked a wonderful sunny day (by chance), fantastic venue for an afternoon tea, service and food was excellent!!
