    London Elizabeth Hotel

I've been to many afternoon teas so I've something to compare it too and I'm afraid this wasn't the best. We were offered tea bags in there packet to pick from so didn't look very professional just a selection from Twinings tea which they placed into hot water. The selection of cakes wasn't enough and when we asked for another Tea they made us pay for it. So I wouldn't use this hotel again there was no thought behind it. I would go to another hotel

Food and staff were lovely, was let down by the awful crockery, thought we would have nice tea cups etc, but what we got was really thick crockery the teacups are what they use for hospitals and commercial use. ????

Haughton Hall Hotel and Leisure Club

My wife and I recently enjoyed afternoon tea for two at Haughton Hall in Shifnal, Shropshire, using a Red Letter Day voucher that we had received as a gift. Tea was served in the large, wood panel, high-ceiling, traditional, dining room. Apart from two other people, we were the only customers on a Friday afternoon. Service was friendly and attentive. We were a little bit disappointed in the range of hot drinks on offer: a selection of traditional, green and fruity teas, but all served in tea bags (no loose tea), and no additional hot water. My wife, not a tea drinker, was offered filter coffee, (but no further choice). By comparison, the cakes and sandwiches were far more impressive, although again we were surprised that we were each asked to select a particular sandwich filling (ie two people are limited to only two choices of sandwich filling). The impressive selection of cakes included chocolate eclairs, mini Victoria sponge, scones with clotted cream etc. The venue seem to take great pride in their warm chocolate fondue (although this very much depends on whether or not one enjoys warm, dark chocolate). Taken overall, a pleasant experience; the cakes and sandwiches were tempting and filling; the choice and manner of serving of hot drinks a little disappointing.

First of all, the cup I was given had to be returned as it was dirty. The table looked very nice when we first arrived, but then the food arrived and spoilt the effect.

    Marwell Hotel

Upon arrival sat in pleasant reception lounge area and was soon greeted by a waiter who ushered us to a table for two situated in the far corner of a totally empty restaurant. There was no ambience, wall decorations, music just dirty carpets. Waiter apologised more than once for delays stating that he was shattered as they had a mid week wedding, nice welcome! The food was good and the scones had been warmed. Surprised the tea was not served in traditional china but what looked like clear plastic individual infuser kettles and cups which in my opinion cheapened the experience. The event would have been more enjoyable if we had been left to sit at the table we initially chose in the reception lounge.

    Quorn Country House Hotel

We enjoyed our afternoon tea which included a selection of sandwiches, cakes, warm scones with clotted cream and fruit preserves, and freshly-brewed tea chosen from a selection box of various flavoured teas. We actually chose chocolate and caramel flavour, Very tasty.

    BEST WESTERN Grosvenor Hotel

The afternoon tea was pleasant and very filling. It was an enjoyable way to spend an hour in the afternoon. The conservatory in which we were seated was rather warm and we should have asked for a table away from the window. However an enjoyable afternoon with attentive staff.

The food was nicely presented and tasted nice, but the room it was served in, lacked atmosphere not the romantic setting we were expecting. We have had afternoon tea in a lot better places and would not recommend to my friends.

I bought this for my mum and her friend as a gift. Although the staff were very friendly, helpful and attentive, they were rather disappointed with the poor selection of sandwiches and cake.
