Gorge Walking in Tyne and Wear
Gorge walking, or 'ghyll scrambling' as it's also known, is the perfect way to ignite your sense of adventure, and lovers of non-stop exciting activities are sure to love this adrenaline-filled experience. Climb up the awe-inspiring Ashgill Beck gorge, bursting with natural rocks slides, thrilling 15 feet faith leaps and daring step offs and jumps - all of which are waiting to be tackled head-on. Prepare to walk along the path of the water, clamber over the rocks and negotiate a way around some stunning pools and breathtaking waterfalls. - Participant Guidelines
Minimum age is 18. No experience necessary but good level of fitness is required.
Gorge walking goes ahead in most conditions, cancellations are rare and are made for safety.
Gorge walking lasts around two and a half hours. Total time including transportation, introduction and debrief is up to five hours.
- Numbers on the Day
A minimum of six and maximum of 25 others take part.
- Dress Code
Bring extra clothes, swimwear, a towel and a pair of old trainers. A wetsuit, helmet and buoyancy aid are provided. Remove glasses or secure them firmly with elastic.
