Gorge walking, or 'ghyll scrambling' as it's also known, is the perfect way to ignite your sense of adventure, and lovers of non-stop exciting activities are sure to love this adrenaline-filled experience. Climb up the awe-inspiring Ashgill Beck gorge, bursting with natural rocks slides, thrilling 15 feet faith leaps and daring step offs and jumps - all of which are waiting to be tackled head-on. Prepare to walk along the path of the water, clamber over the rocks and negotiate a way around some stunning pools and breathtaking waterfalls. Don't forget to take in the beauty of the walk along the way, this stunning scenery is just a ride away from Newcastle city centre. Go explore!

  • Availability Description

    At least two weekend dates per month throughout the year.

  • Participant Guidelines

    Minimum age is 18. No experience necessary but good level of fitness is required.

  • Weather

    Gorge walking goes ahead in most conditions, cancellations are rare and are made for safety.

  • Duration Detail

    Gorge walking lasts around two and a half hours. Total time including introduction and debrief is up to five hours.

  • Numbers On The Day

    A minimum of six and maximum of 25 others take part.

  • Dress Code

    Bring extra clothes, swimwear, a towel and a pair of old trainers. A wetsuit, helmet and buoyancy aid are provided. Remove glasses or secure them firmly with elastic.
