One Night Country House Escape

Stayed here before and really enjoyed our brief stayonc again

Wonderfull overnight stay at Beamish Hall. Three course evening meal which was fantastic, beautiful ground floor room and super friendly staff. Stunning hotel and gardens in a superb location. Breakfast was absolutely delicious. Can’t fault this hotel, throughly enjoyed our stay and would book again and recommend to anyone.

Stunning hotel with friendly/professional staff on arrival. We were lucky to recieve an upgrade on our room which included a 4 post bed and stairs leading upto a Victoria style bath and private shower enclosure. Would 100% recommend. The grounds are very picturesque and parking was free only 20yards from Hotel reception.

The hotel and restaurant staff were very welcoming the room was clean and bed comfortable a very enjoyable stay.

Mattress was broken so changed rooms. 2nd room hadn’t been cleaned , medical packaging on floor.& phone didn’t work. 3rd room, tiny , couldn’t watch tv due to it’s positioning. Curtains , huge stains & in need of repair. Dinners were good although had to ask for wine list twice & then had to ask to order wine! Credit card taken when we checked in, for extras but any extras had to be paid for in cash?! Toilet to use from dinning room dirty had cobwebs & spiders on the floor. Booked breakfast for 9.15. When we went down we were told we were not on the list & it finished at 9am. We were told there was plenty left so we could still eat. Food was over cooked, dry & of poor quality! I have honestly NEVER stayed anywhere so bad. I would recommend you remove this hotel from your list.

We would not recommend this hotel it was very basic. Not value for money. The bed was clean and comfortable and the staff were ok but there was a very odd atmosphere and it was very run down. needed a coat of paint. There also seemed to be refugees accommodated there. Not that they were any trouble but the whole atmosphere was a bit strange. The tea and coffee we ordered at the bar were extortionate. The grounds are lovely and very pleasant to walk around. We didn't eat there as we had been advised against it by our daughter who had stayed there previously on a work trip. Had a lovely meal at the pub in the village. Over all we wouldn't recommend it especially if you don't have transport as it is in the middle of nowhere down a long drive..

Bought for my 70th birthday gift I chose this venue as it was close to my home and I am glad I did. Pity it was for only the 1 night I could have stopped longer so I could explore locally somewhere I had driven through for my work for years The room a little small but comfortable. The ambience in both the lounge and bar was great the food was excellent both evening and breakfast. My thanks to the helpful staff for their welcome

Not the luxury break I was hoping for. Dirty and small room. Poor food.

First night away from our two young children and I spent 45 minutes sat looking at dirty plates. Starter plate not cleared before the mains arrived, main turned up with corn on the cob missing, asked for that and some salt and vinegar which I had to go up and ask for again 10 minutes later. Corn on the cob turned up 20 minutes later when we'd already finished, salt and vinegar never arrived. Then sat for 35 minutes with dirty plates before getting up and asking what's going on, 10 minutes after that they were eventually cleared. Not once were we asked if we wanted more drinks, did we need anything, not even an "enjoy your meals" just a quick drop off of our meals and ran off. Absolutely spoiled our evening. Table behind us had the wrong food delivered to their table, the gentleman had dipped his knife into the sauce on the plate and after catching the waitress's attention to inform them it wasn't their food, they took it from their table and gave it straight to someone else! They said they'd refund our drinks, no refund yet, said they'd investigate what happened, haven't heard back from them yet. Absolute shame as the food was delicious and the room was lovely, just a let down to spend 2 hours in the restaurant waiting for the staff to seem like they want your custom. Other tables were moaning they were waiting for their food for such a long time. Funnily enough the only table having great service were a couple who had booked a wedding taster, they were being looked after perfectly while everyone else was forgotten about.
