Slug & Lettuce Dining Experiences for Two

The pub is dirty, sticky floors, tables needed a good clean. Tea served in dirty cups with no saucers or anywhere to place teabags. Food was OK, but separate plates needed for savoury hot food and then cakes. Staff were very friendly

Difficult to navigate site to redeem our Christmas voucher for a meal. Site kept crashing, continually having to enter details etc..... Hope I do NOT receive another gift voucher!!!

The Slug and Lettuce in George Street, Edinburgh: - Loud music with the bass turned up - Stale fruit scone - Pathetic little sandwich rolls with barely any filling - Cheap tasting tiny cakes - Sticky table. High booth seats but with nowhere to rest feet so they dangle - Strange staff member who was a man wearing an ill fitting scruffy grey tshirt. He’d look more at home in a dodgy football men’s pub - Tiny afternoon tea. Definitely the cheapest and most lack lustre I’ve ever had Overall this was such a lacking experience of afternoon tea. I expect to be able to hear my friend speaking and for afternoon tea to have a relaxed and luxurious feel. This place was noisy from the blaring thumping music even though it was 1pm on a Wednesday, overall it was fairly empty so there was no need for the place to feel so overwhelmingly noisy. The combination of cheap quality food, scruffy staff member, and the floors feeling like something had been spilled and never cleaned up; sticky table and sticky floor, it was giving dive bar rather than a bar/restaurant on George Street Generally a grim experience that I wouldn’t want to repeat. Left hungry and had to go get another snack in town. I would have had a nicer time grabbing a cheap coffee and cake from anywhere else, and sitting in Princes Street Gardens

Booked at another restaurant for a 2 course meal and a glass of fizz but the venue suddenly closed down so we moved it to the Slug & Lettuce for afternoon tea. Our waiter was brilliant, very friendly and attentive. No fizz was included which was a shame. Soggy focaccia sandwich, other choices ok. Only one pudding not the 2 advertised and a very stale or defrosted scone. Not great. But good company made it good enough not to complain. Toilets were dirty, on a Monday afternoon, no excuse for this!
