Sparkling Afternoon Tea at Broome Park Golf and Country Club for Two

We received this as a gift following a great experience. This occasion, in my view couldn’t have been different. It’s a pleasant setting but in reality could have been held in an industrial estate or portable hut. We arrived 15 mins early for our appointed time and was informed that we wound be collected. We could hear staff discussing the numbers they had that afternoon. 25 mins after arrival, I sought out one of the staff and advised them we were there for the afternoon tea. He led us into the room which was pleasantly decorated. Sat us down and asked if we wanted tea or coffee and did we want the prosecco with food or separately. The tea arrived in a glass pot with infuser and an egg timer. We queried if they had skinned milk - he responded that the jug supplied was skimmed. A short while later the sandwiches and cakes arrived along with the prosecco. There were two water glasses on the table but we were not offered any water. Another server sat a couple down nearby and we overheard her asking them if they wanted tea or coffee - along with a choice of types of tea. She advised them that they only used semi-skimmed milk. That explained our weaker tea. The scones were warm which was nice, two plain and two fruit (apoarently) but no butter (other server advised other couple that they do not supply butter). The jam (no fruit bits) and cream were served in a ramikin - there was not enough of either for two scones each. The server didn’t return to see if anything else was needed, nor was I aware if I could ask for more. The room was pleasant but it would have been nice to have a brochure highlighting the history of the place rather than just left in a room on a wing of the house. The cutlery was huge - suitable for dining rather than afternoon tea. Very disappointed overall would not recommend. Have had better afternoon tea in M&S and cafe.
