Great day out

The gallery tour was really interesting but bear in mind you will be part of a group. The afternoon tea was really exceptional and high quality - a real treat in itself

Very enjoyable

This was a wonderful introduction to the portrait gallery. Our guide was fantastic, and walked us through the ages, telling us about why things were done in a certain way, and how materials and techniques developed. It was really interesting, and was only an hour, leaving plenty of time to explore further yourself. Be aware when purchasing that these tours are only available on certain days of the week. So if pairing with another experience, please check this. We ended up having to stay in London for 2 nights, as we couldn’t do this and the champagne cocktails and cheese on the same day. Bit of a faff.

Fabulous afternoon

Great afternoon at the National Gallery for the Highlights Afternoon Tour followed by Afternoon Tea at the Ochre Restaurant. The tour lasted around an hour with a very knowledgeable guide, Emma, who explained the stories and history behind some of the more well known art works, The Ambassadors, Whistlejacket and other paintings dating back hundred of years. Followed by a first class afternoon tea in the Ochre restaurant. Highly recommended.

National Gallery tour

The experience itself was excellent. However, the booking of it was not so good as, because I did not initially receive a reply to my email from the National Gallery I contacted Red Letter Days. On the Red Letter Days website it said we could book a tour for 10.30, 2.00pm or 3.30pm. However it transpired that only one tour was available which was 2.00pm and they did not run the 10.30am tour in any case. It took quite a few emails to book as National Gallery said we were booked onto the 2.00 pm tour but Red Letter Days said we were booked onto the 10.30 am tour - it was very confusing. It all got sorted out in the end and the tour itself was very informative as the guide was excellent.
