We got to the castle and were apprehensive to pass through the archway as there was a wedding taking place and the photographs were happening in front of us. We were told our room was ready however at 8.5months pregnant we were in one of the turrets at the top of the castle. We tried to go for a cup of tea and were told to take a seat in a room behind reception. It took over 1hr 30mins for a cup of tea and a sandwich, however as we were waiting another couple were having their wedding meeting there. We heard all about how much things cost, what they wanted. We felt so uncomfortable. Afterwards we went outside for some fresh air were another few couples seemed to be doing the same. We got chatting to a couple who were on a complimentary stay as their previous stay had been diabolical. Whilst sitting there we were not allowed on the lawn as the wedding was continuing to party and bottles of prosecco and glasses were sprawled around the grass. After speaking with reception, I told them that the room was too far and I was getting pains in my stomach. They informed us that there was nothing they could do. We contemplated going home however, we decided to go to bed. As we hadn’t really checked the room, the room was dirty and boiling hot with a little fan in the corner. Once the wedding had finished at 11:30pm, the party guests made everyone aware in the hotel that they were going to bed. Breakfast the following day, yet again surrounded by wedding guests, with a couple who were shouting across the room explaining that there should not be “strangers” around during their wedding or celebrations. We were made to feel so uncomfortable, but after reading reviews online, it was pointless that anything was going to change. Please please please don’t stay here. You will disappointed. As a result of the amount of steps up to the room, I ended up in hospital the following day with exhaustion and pains in my stomach.
